Breast numbness and lack of milk during lactation

As we all know, the breastfeeding period is a very important period. Whether the baby's body can develop normally has a lot to do with the breast condition of the new mother. Many women experience numbness in their breasts and a lack of milk supply during lactation. This is most likely caused by milk letdown, which is a very common phenomenon. We can have a comprehensive understanding of milk letdown and take appropriate measures to deal with it in a timely manner.

Milk letdown occurs when a woman feels her breasts suddenly swell and feel slight pain during the breastfeeding period, followed by milk spurting out in the form of spurts or rapid drips. Milk letdowns are common before each feeding or a few minutes after the baby sucks. When the milk comes, the milk supply will be very abundant. Even if there is not much milk left after the milk is sucked out, it will suddenly become more and the breasts will feel harder than before.

Precautions

If the baby is sucking when the milk comes, you will hear the baby swallowing rapidly and in large gulps. If the baby spits out the nipple at this time, you can see the milk flowing out of the breast and wetting the clothes. At this time, pressing the nipple with your hand for a few moments can stop the milk from continuing to flow out.

Some mothers have many nipple holes. When the milk comes, the baby will cry or choke because they don't have time to swallow. At this time, the mother can pinch the upper and lower areola with her index and middle fingers to slow down the flow rate and prevent the baby from choking (it can also be dangerous if the baby chokes severely).

Solution

Some mothers may also experience milk letdowns because they work for too long and do not allow their children to breastfeed. At this time, the mother can go to a convenient place and press the nipples with her hands for two minutes to stop the milk from continuing to flow out. Mothers who work while breastfeeding can avoid some embarrassment.
