Is uterine curettage painful?

Is uterine curettage painful?

It will definitely be painful to have a uterine curettage operation, but this pain is completely bearable and will not last too long, at most only a dozen minutes. After the operation, you must pay attention to rest and keep warm, increase the nutrition of your diet, pay attention to hygiene and contraception.

Precautions after uterine curettage

1. Pay attention to rest and strengthen nutrition

After the curettage, you should rest in bed for 2 to 3 days, then you can get out of bed and move around, gradually increasing the time you spend on activities. Do not engage in heavy physical labor and avoid contact with cold water within half a month after curettage. It takes about a month for the uterus to recover after curettage. Therefore, we should pay attention to increasing nutrition, taking in adequate protein, enhancing the body's resistance to disease, and promoting the early repair of injured organs. After the curettage, you should eat more protein-rich foods such as fish, meat, eggs, and bean products, as well as fresh vegetables rich in vitamins to speed up your body's recovery.

2. Keep the vulva clean and hygienic, and avoid sexual intercourse

After curettage, the cervix has not yet closed and the endometrium also has a repair process. During this period, special attention should be paid to keeping the vulva clean and hygienic. Do not take a bath in a tub within half a month after the operation to prevent unclean water from entering the vagina, leading to bacterial invasion and infection. Avoid sexual intercourse within one month after curettage.

3. Observe the bleeding situation and prevent the condition from getting worse

If vaginal bleeding lasts for more than one week after curettage, and is accompanied by symptoms such as lower abdominal pain, fever, turbid and smelly leucorrhea, you should go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time.

4. Pay attention to contraception to avoid pregnancy again

After curettage, the ovarian and uterine functions gradually recovered and the ovaries ovulated on schedule. If you don't stick to contraception, you will get pregnant again soon. Some women get pregnant again in the same month after having an abortion, which has a greater impact on the body. Therefore, reliable contraceptive measures should be chosen. Abortion can only be used as a remedial surgery as a last resort after contraceptive failure. Abortion should never be used as a contraceptive measure to protect the physical and mental health of women.
