The difference between menstruation and bleeding

Menstruation is something every woman goes through. Some female vaginal bleeding is physiological vaginal bleeding, such as normal menstruation, which will not harm health. Some of it is also due to physiological vaginal bleeding. Some people cannot tell the difference between menstruation and vaginal bleeding. So, what’s the difference between vaginal bleeding and menstruation?

What is the difference between vaginal bleeding and menstruation?

Vaginal bleeding and menstruation are somewhat similar, but their actual causes are different. Menstruation is a regular shedding of the uterine wall, which is a normal physiological metabolic behavior of the human body, while vaginal bleeding is generally caused by multifunctional changes in the urinary organs, which has a serious impact on women's health.

Distinguish by color and condition. Menstrual blood is usually dark red and thicker, and there will be some non-pungent odor. It is the smell of human waste. Vaginal bleeding may be mixed in the secretions, or it may flow out immediately, red, not thick, small in amount, and odorless. When your period just arrived, it was a little dark red, but after a while, the sanitary napkin was dark red, which is still a normal menstrual period.

Normal menstruation for women is mostly 28 to 30 days (it can also fluctuate by 3 to 5 days). Menstruation comes once, and the menstrual period is mostly 3 to 5 days (it can also fluctuate by 2 days). Regular ovulation of the uterus and ovaries is the basic prerequisite for normal menstruation. Women have two ovaries, one above and one below, located at the back and bottom of the fallopian tubes on both sides of the uterus, which produce eggs and estrogen, and maintain women's normal menstrual physiology and reproductive function. A fully developed woman usually has a fully developed uterus and discharges a fully developed egg every month. Ovulation usually occurs between two menstrual periods, about 14 days before the first menstruation. Generally speaking, transient and small amounts of ovulation bleeding do not require treatment. If the bleeding is heavy, lasts for a long time, or is recurring and difficult to heal, it can be regarded as a condition of irregular menstruation.

Causes of vaginal bleeding include:

1. Endocrine-related bleeding

Vaginal bleeding in newborns, bleeding related to emergency contraception, abnormal uterine bleeding due to imbalanced effects, mid-term bleeding, abnormal uterine bleeding after menopause, etc.

2. Pregnancy-related bleeding

Threatened abortion, incomplete abortion, ectopic pregnancy, placenta previa, placental abruption, hydatidiform mole, choriocarcinoma, etc.

3. Bleeding Related to Inflammation

1. Vulvar bleeding is common in vulvar ulcers, urethral caruncle, etc.

2. Vaginal bleeding is common in vaginal ulcers and vaginitis, especially vaginitis in the elderly and candidal vaginitis.

3. Cervical bleeding is common in acute and chronic cervicitis, cervical erosion, cervical ulcer, cervical cyst, etc.

4. Abnormal uterine bleeding is common in acute and chronic endometritis, chronic uterine myocarditis, acute and chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, etc.

Tumor-related bleeding

1. Irregular vaginal bleeding in women is common in erythroblastic sarcoma.

2. Vaginal bleeding in middle-aged and elderly women is common due to uterine fibroids.

3. Middle-aged or elderly or postmenopausal women who have been exposed to or have non-menstrual bleeding may be at risk for cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, functional ovarian tumors, etc.

5. Bleeding Related to Trauma

1. Bleeding caused by trauma.

2. Bleeding during sexual intercourse: common in cases of rupture of the hymen, cracking of the vaginal wall or posterior vaginal fornix.

6. Bleeding associated with systemic diseases

Disseminated intravascular coagulation is common in liver disease, aplastic anemia, thrombocytopenic purpura and gynecological diseases with high incidence.

The difference between menstrual bleeding and early pregnancy bleeding

First of all, simply looking at the symptoms, these two symptoms are not easy to distinguish. They can only be confirmed after auxiliary examination, because miscarriage in the early stages of pregnancy, especially spontaneous abortion, and menstruation have basically the same symptoms.

Menstruation refers to the regular and regular abnormal uterine bleeding, which is also called period, menstrual blood, menstruation, and menstruation. Strictly speaking, along with this kind of bleeding, the ovaries and uterus must have eggs mature, ovulation, and progesterone production, and the uterine wall undergoes a change from proliferation to metabolism. The menstrual period should have normal cycle time, menstrual period, menstrual volume, menstrual color and menstrual quality.

If you are confirmed to be pregnant, and the amount of vaginal bleeding is larger than normal and is less than normal, and is accompanied by abdominal pain, then you can be sure that it is not your period, but pregnancy bleeding.

Pregnancy bleeding is generally not a lot, but it may last longer, and menstrual bleeding is generally heavier in the first two days. Bleeding during pregnancy is a warning sign of abnormal pregnancy. Regardless of the amount of bleeding, expectant mothers must remain vigilant and seek medical attention as soon as possible.
