Light bleeding and abdominal pain in early pregnancy

Light bleeding and abdominal pain in early pregnancy

Most pregnant women will pay special attention to their physical condition in the early stages of pregnancy, because the fetus is unstable in the early stages of pregnancy and the baby in the belly is prone to abnormalities. Especially in the early stages of pregnancy, if a woman has bleeding symptoms in her lower body and abdominal pain, most women will be very worried whether there is a problem with the baby in her belly. So what causes bleeding and abdominal pain in early pregnancy?

Light or spotting bleeding

Very small amounts of bleeding are generally considered "functional bleeding" in early pregnancy, which is mostly caused by the rapidly changing physiological factors of the pregnant mother at this time. Common factors include: implantation of the fertilized egg and rupture of the cervical mucosa.

1. Fertilized egg implantation

Pregnancy can be said to be a kind of "allogeneic transplantation phenomenon". When the fertilized egg enters the pregnant mother's uterus, it instinctively wants to reach the endometrium where the blood flow is the richest and most comfortable. In this process, it may cause the blood vessels in the landing place to rupture, thereby causing a small amount of bleeding. This bleeding occurs early, is not accompanied by abdominal pain and other discomfort, and lasts for a very short time. The pregnant mother just needs to pay attention to keeping it clean.

2. Rupture of cervical mucosa

After the fertilized egg implants, it begins to grow gradually. At this time, the embryo may slightly press on the cervical canal and cause a small amount of bleeding. In this case, bleeding occurs a little later, within 30-60 days of pregnancy, and may last longer, but there is no specific pattern except that the amount is small. It may continue all the time or it may be intermittent. There is no need to worry about this situation, as long as the pregnant mother pays attention to hygiene.

Bleeding tends to increase

Generally in this case, in addition to increased bleeding and bright-colored blood, the pregnant mother will also experience abdominal pain and other discomforts, which may be a threatened miscarriage. The main causes of threatened abortion are: problems with the embryo and problems with the mother in early pregnancy.

Maternal problems in early pregnancy

In the early stages of pregnancy, the mother may not even know the existence of the embryo, so she will not pay special attention to it. Excessive fatigue, psychological pressure, smoking, drinking, external force, etc. may cause the unknowing mother to lose her child.

There is a problem with the embryo

Although it may sound cruel to say this, the fact is that most of the children who are aborted for no reason are "abnormal embryos" and will experience spontaneous abortion during the process of growth and development. If this is the case, it is not recommended for the mother to undergo fetal preservation treatment. This kind of fetus is destined to not be able to be preserved. The specific situation can be referred to based on B-ultrasound.

Countermeasures: When the products of pregnancy are completely expelled, bleeding will gradually decrease and abdominal pain will be relieved. No special treatment is required. If bleeding persists for a long time and abdominal pain is severe, it may be an incomplete miscarriage. In most cases, uterine curettage is required.

Vaginal bleeding, accompanied by abdominal pain and distension

In this case, in addition to bleeding, the pregnant mother will also have persistent pain on one side of the lower abdomen. It is very likely an ectopic pregnancy, and the pregnant mother needs to go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible.

Countermeasures: Once an ectopic pregnancy is confirmed, the mother needs to cooperate with the doctor to undergo uterine curettage immediately, otherwise her life will be in danger.
