How to reduce swelling of hemorrhoids during pregnancy

Pregnancy is a happy thing for many people, especially some pregnant women are very concerned about their bodies, because they are afraid that their usual negligence will have a certain impact on the baby in their body. Many pregnant women are prone to hemorrhoid problems or even swollen hemorrhoids due to long periods of sitting or sleeping. When this symptom occurs, many pregnant women do not know what to do. So how should pregnant women reduce swelling of hemorrhoids during pregnancy?

1. Methods for reducing swelling of hemorrhoids during pregnancy

First: Use a soft ice pack to apply cold compresses to the hemorrhoid area several times a day to reduce swelling.

Second: You can use traditional Chinese medicine. After each ice compress, pour Chinese medicine or ordinary warm water into the bath tray, and pay attention to cleanliness. When taking a sitz bath, you can use the alternating hot and cold method. After the ice compress, take a sitz bath again.

Third: After defecation, you should use soft, unscented, clean paper towels, or wet the paper towels, and wipe from front to back.

Fourth: Drink more water and honey water, eat more vegetables and fruits, and avoid spicy and irritating foods.

Fifth: Life lies in exercise, and exercise makes people healthy. Proper exercise can enhance our body's immunity and improve our physical fitness. The same is true for pregnant mothers. In fact, it is okay for pregnant mothers to go out for a walk occasionally, which will help with delivery. It’s best not to play with your phone while defecating, as that may cause hemorrhoids.

2. Causes of hemorrhoids during pregnancy

First: Pregnant women sit for a long time, which leads to insufficient blood circulation in the body, slow blood flow in the pelvis and congestion of abdominal viscera, causing veins to become full and bulge, and reducing the tension of the venous walls.

Second: Lack of exercise leads to slower intestinal motility, causing stool to stay in the body for too long, drying up the water and causing dry stool. The stool squeezes the veins, causing congestion and difficulty in blood return.

Third: As the fetus continues to grow, the uterus also expands, putting pressure on the vena cava, hindering blood return in the pelvic cavity, and causing blood stasis in the perianal venous plexus.

Fourth: The influence of endocrine hormones during pregnancy causes the expansion of pelvic blood vessels and rectum, forming hemorrhoids.

Fifth: The increase in abdominal pressure during childbirth will also cause local hemorrhoidal vein reflux in the anus, and in severe cases it may cause damage to the hemorrhoidal veins.
