What are the symptoms of chest inflammation?

Chest inflammation is also quite common among women. There are many causes of chest inflammation, the most common of which is acute mastitis, which often causes breast pain, sometimes ulceration and pus discharge, and can cause systemic symptoms, including fever. Some patients will have leukocytosis, etc. Let us now understand the symptoms of chest inflammation.

What are the symptoms of chest inflammation?

1. Symptoms of acute breast abscess-type mastitis: Mastitis patients suddenly experience breast pain and abscess formation. In some cases, the abscess may rupture on its own and discharge pus. Local manifestations are severe and rapid, but the systemic inflammatory response is mild, with moderate fever or no fever. In a few cases, leukocytosis is not obvious.

2. Symptoms of breast lump type mastitis: gradual appearance of breast lumps, slight or no pain, no redness or swelling of the skin, clear boundaries of the lumps, and no history of fever. This type of mastitis is often misdiagnosed as breast cancer.

3. Symptoms of chronic fistula-type mastitis: There is often a history of repeated breast inflammation and pain, and some cases of mastitis may have a history of surgical drainage. The fistula may be connected to the input tube near the nipple and may not heal for a long time. In severe cases, multiple fistulas and breast deformation may occur, and there may often be repeated pus discharge and inflammatory masses in the breast or around the fistula.

4. The initial symptoms of acute simple mastitis are mainly breast pain, local high skin temperature, tenderness, and the appearance of hard nodules with unclear boundaries and tenderness.

5. In acute suppurative mastitis, the local skin becomes red, swollen, hot and painful, with obvious nodules and more tenderness. At the same time, the patient may experience chills, high fever, headache, weakness, rapid pulse and other general weakness. At this time, swollen lymph nodes may appear in the armpits, which are tender and the white blood cell count in blood tests may be elevated. In severe cases, sepsis may occur.

Causes of Breast Inflammation

Inflammation of the breast, also known as mastitis. If this happens, it will cause certain harm to women's breasts, so when women encounter this situation, they should find out the cause in time. What are the specific causes of breast inflammation?

1. The main cause of acute mastitis is the invasion of pathogens. For the pathogens of acute mastitis, most are Staphylococcus aureus, and a few are Streptococci.

2. These pathogenic bacteria are produced when the nipple skin is broken or the areola is cracked. The bacteria will enter through the broken skin, spread along the lymphatic vessels to the female breast lobules and the fat in the lobules, and finally enter the fibrous tissue, causing acute purulent cellulitis.

3. Another reason for acute mastitis is milk congestion during lactation, which allows bacteria to multiply. The main reason for milk stasis is that women’s nipples are too small or inverted, which makes it impossible to breastfeed normally. Some women also have excessive milk, which is not emptied in time, causing milk congestion and acute mastitis.

4. Another reason for acute mastitis is blockage of the milk ducts. This situation is more likely to occur in women with secondary milk stasis. It can also happen to some women if their breasts are not emptied in time or if they breastfeed irregularly. For women who give birth for the first time, since breast milk contains a lot of shed epithelial cells, it is easy to cause blockage of the mammary ducts, making the milk congestion worse.
