Are small cervical cysts serious?

Small cervical cysts are also called cervical Nabothian cysts. Cervical Nabothian cysts (also known as "Nabothian cysts") are a major manifestation of chronic cervicitis, just like cervical erosion and cervical cysts. Cause: Its cause is similar to that of "acne" on the face. During the healing process of cervical erosion, the neonatal squamous epithelium covers the cervical gland ducts or extends into the glands, blocking the gland ducts; the connective tissue hyperplasia or scarring around the glands compresses the glands, causing the gland ducts to become smaller or even blocked, and the drainage of glandular secretions is blocked. The cyst formed by the accumulation is called cervical nabothian cyst.

Clinical symptoms: During examination, several bluish-white vesicles of varying sizes (not blue-purple) can be seen protruding from the surface of the cervix. They contain mucus, and the small ones are as big as millet grains and the large ones are as big as corn. Some can appear very large, protruding from the surface of the cervix and even reaching the vulva. The roots are connected to the cervix by a pedicle, and are often combined with cervical hypertrophy.

Solution: Since it is an inflammation, it is not serious, but it should be noted that chronic cervicitis is closely related to cervical cancer. Under long-term inflammatory stimulation, a small number of patients with chronic cervicitis have a tendency to worsen, so high attention is still needed. The main thing is that cervical acid-fast staining examination must be done every year to detect cervical cancer and early cancer diseases.

1. Scattered and relatively small cervical cysts generally do not require treatment, and only require annual examinations. 2. For clustered smaller Nabothian cysts or larger cysts, physical therapies such as phototherapy, laser, microwave heating, and self-coagulation knife can be considered. 3. For those that are significantly protruding from the surface of the cervix, electrocautery can be considered for removal. The above treatment methods are not very painful and are not likely to affect daily work and life.
