Will congenital heart disease be inherited in pregnant women?

Will congenital heart disease be inherited in pregnant women?

Congenital heart disease does not necessarily cost the patient his life. Many congenital heart diseases are relatively mild, so the patient can still grow up, get married and have children. However, as a pregnant woman with congenital heart disease, she will be very worried that she may inherit the disease. What should she do in this situation?

Generally speaking, heart disease is not a genetic disease, which mainly means that there is no specific genetic gene control, but it can indeed have a family history. I think this is related to lifestyle habits and diet.

Why is the mother responsible for a child's congenital heart disease?

Since congenital heart disease is brought from the womb, it is closely related to the environment within the fetus, or in other words, closely related to the mother. If the mother suffers from a viral infection during pregnancy (mainly the first three months), especially rubella, mumps, and influenza, it is very likely to cause fetal heart malformations, because the heart develops and takes shape in the first three months after pregnancy; pregnant mothers taking too many sedatives, antibiotics (mainly tetracycline, oxytetracycline, chlortetracycline) and quinine is also one of the reasons; when the mother suffers from "diabetes", "hyperthyroidism" and other diseases, it will also cause abnormal fetal heart development; older women's multiple births are prone to congenital heart disease and other malformations; exposure to radiation during pregnancy, lack of folic acid in the diet, and bad mood of pregnant women are all related to congenital heart disease in the baby; in addition, it can also be seen that in the same family, twins or several children have congenital heart disease or other malformations. When someone in the family has heart disease, the children are also likely to have congenital heart disease. All these situations indicate that congenital heart disease is related to genetics. If the mother can avoid the above-mentioned adverse factors during pregnancy, especially prevent viral infection, and take as little medicine as possible (including Chinese medicine), this will be very beneficial for preventing fetal heart malformations.

Is congenital heart disease hereditary?

Congenital heart disease does not necessarily have genetic factors, but some children with congenital heart disease are related to genetics. However, it does not necessarily mean that the parents have heart disease, but that there is a problem with the parents' chromosomes, such as trisomy 21 and trisomy 18. These changes or abnormalities in the chromosomal position are all related to genetics. So if parents have heart disease, their children may not have heart disease; if parents do not have heart disease, their children may not have congenital heart disease.
