Can middle-aged people get breast fibroids?

Can middle-aged people get breast fibroids?

There are still many diseases that are unique to women, among which women's breasts are also very prone to disease problems. The most well-known female breast disease is breast cancer, which is a very serious breast disease. If you get it in the early stages, it is okay, but in the late stages it will have a great impact on a woman's body. There is also a breast disease called breast fibroids. Many middle-aged women worry whether their age will increase the probability of developing breast fibroids.

The probability of developing breast fibroadenoma in people over 40 is relatively low, less than one percent.

Breast fibroadenomas tend to occur in younger women

Most people believe that breast diseases mostly occur in middle-aged women, but you may not know that there is a type of breast tumor that favors young women, and that is breast fibroadenoma. According to breast doctors, breast fibroadenoma is a mixed tumor of fibrous tissue and glandular epithelium occurring in the mammary lobule. It is the most common type of benign breast tumor, accounting for 75% of the incidence of benign breast tumors, and is more common in young women aged 20-25 years old.

There is no obvious cause for breast fibroids, but estrogen has a certain effect

Although the main cause of breast fibroadenoma has not been found in current research, estrogen in women's bodies still has a certain promoting effect. The continuous increase in estrogen has caused the incidence of breast fibroids to continue to rise. It is worth noting that nowadays, with the worsening environmental pollution, the increase in off-season food, the increase in estrogen in meat products, and the continued high pressure of life and work, many girls develop prematurely, the estrogen in urban women's bodies is in an unstable state, and endocrine disorders are very likely to occur, and breast fibroids also come unexpectedly.

In addition, long working hours, staying up late, high-intensity mental work, unreasonable work and rest habits, etc. are all accomplices that lead to endocrine system disorders. Therefore, to some extent, precocious girls, stressed female white-collar workers, depressed older "leftover women", etc. are all high-risk groups for breast fibroids. However, the correlation between breast fibroadenoma and genetics is not very high. In general, breast cancer may have a certain relationship with genetics.

Breast fibroid lumps can be felt by oneself

The main symptom of breast fibroadenoma is a breast lump. The lumps are round or oval in size and often occur in one breast. They feel hard to the touch, have a smooth surface and clear boundaries. It has a certain degree of mobility. Unlike breast hyperplasia, the lump of breast hyperplasia is hard. Unlike breast hyperplasia and breast cancer, fibroids are painless and are often discovered accidentally when taking a bath or changing clothes. Breast fibroid lumps usually grow slowly and do not fester or ulcerate.

Many women discover that they have breast fibroadenoma during physical examinations at their workplace, mainly through B-ultrasound examinations. This is also a relatively accurate method, especially when doing color B-ultrasound. Breast fibroadenoma cannot be 100% identified simply by clinical examination and related examinations, especially when breast fibroadenoma is combined with cancer, its ultrasound or mammography X-ray manifestations are non-specific, and pathological examination is often required for definitive diagnosis.

Often coexists with breast hyperplasia and has a low chance of becoming cancerous

When patients feel breast fibroids, the question they ask most often is whether it is cancer. In fact, there is no necessary causal relationship between breast fibroids, breast hyperplasia, and breast cancer. Breast hyperplasia and breast fibroadenoma coexist. Simple breast fibroadenoma has little to do with the occurrence of breast cancer, and the rate of malignancy is also very low, especially for unmarried women, so there is no need to worry too much. However, during pregnancy, fibroids may suddenly grow larger, and the chance of developing into sarcoma (a type of malignant transformation) increases; women over 40 years old, especially those who develop fibroids during and after menopause, have an increased risk of malignant transformation and need to pay more attention; in addition, patients with cystic breast hyperplasia who also have breast fibroids may also increase their risk of cancer.
