Do girls have prostate glands?

The prostate is a physiological tissue that exists in every healthy male's body and provides a continuous supply of energy for male function. This organ is located near the male bladder. Generally speaking, only men have a prostate, but medical research in recent years has found that women may also have this prostate tissue. Let’s take a look at whether girls have prostate. I hope everyone can understand it.

The female prostate refers to the female periurethral gland that is similar in structure to the prostate. These glands are mostly concentrated in the posterior and superior part of the female urethra. About 92% of women have this tissue, of which about 25% may be true prostates. Its function is to produce mucous serous secretions that can enhance female sexual desire. The pleasure produced by the female prostate when secreting this fluid is the same as the pleasure caused by stimulating the male prostate.

Main pathology

Prostate disease is a common and frequently occurring disease among middle-aged and elderly men. However, with the further deepening of medical research and clinical cases, it has been confirmed that there is a gland in the posterior part of the female urethra that is equivalent to the male prostate. These glands are homologous to the male prostate during the embryonic period and are also influenced and controlled by endocrine system. If chronic inflammation or nodular neoplastic hyperplasia occurs, leading to stenosis or even obstruction of the bladder neck, a series of symptoms will occur, mainly discomfort in urination. It is clinically known as "female prostate occlusion syndrome" or "female prostate hypertrophy" or "female prostate residual hyperplasia".

The causes of female prostate disease are related to factors such as non-specific inflammation of the female prostate, fibrous narrowing of the bladder neck, muscle hyperplasia and nerve control disorders. Since these factors can lead to bladder neck obstruction, patients may experience typical symptoms such as difficulty urinating, slow and thinning urine flow, dripping urine, and even acute or chronic urinary retention, which are similar to male prostate hyperplasia. Obstruction of the bladder neck is also prone to urinary tract infection, with symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, pain and hematuria. It may also be accompanied by vaginitis, vaginal trichomoniasis or fungal infection.
