The so-called endometrium is actually a part of the uterine wall. Generally speaking, it will not cause any problems as long as the body is healthy. However, because women often fail to protect their bodies, problems may arise in the endometrium, the most common of which is endometrial thickening. Don’t think that this situation doesn’t matter. In fact, it is very harmful. So, what is the endometrial wall thickness? Causes Endogenous estrogen (1) No ovulation If women have problems at any point in the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis during puberty and perimenopause, or suffer from polycystic ovary syndrome, they may develop symptoms of anovulation. The endometrium is unilaterally affected by estrogen for a long time without progesterone to counteract it, which affects the normal cycle of the secretory period and causes it to be in a state of proliferative state for a long time. (2) Obesity 4-androstene-3, secreted by the adrenal glands, is converted into estrone through the action of aromatase, and aromatase exists in fat, so obese women have higher estrone levels, and the endometrium is affected by estrogen for a long time. (3) Endocrine functional tumors Although this type of tumor is rare, it still accounts for 7.5% of cases. The tumor cells not only secrete estrogen, but also destroy the normal functioning of the gonadotropin of the pituitary gland, which causes the endometrium to be in a thickened state for a long time. Exogenous estrogen (1) Estrogen replacement therapy This is a method of treating menopausal syndrome, targeting female patients who are in the perimenopausal period or have already entered menopause. However, this treatment can stimulate the endometrium and cause it to proliferate. After only one year of use, 20% of women suffer from hyperplasia, and this treatment often needs to continue for several years or even a lifetime. Therefore, if female hormones are not used in combination, it will result in endometrial hyperplasia and even endometrial cancer. (2) Application of triphenylmethane Triphenylmethane is used to treat advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women. When estrogen levels are low, its functions are similar to estrogen, so long-term use can also cause hyperplasia. 2. Hazards This disease can cause infertility in patients. The reason for the thickening may be abnormal hormone levels, which not only disrupts the menstrual cycle, but also is not conducive to normal ovulation, and will hinder the smooth implantation of the fertilized egg, which may eventually cause habitual miscarriage or even infertility. Therefore, it is recommended that women go to the hospital for an ultrasound examination three days after the end of menstruation so that they can receive timely treatment. 3. Clinical treatment First of all, we need to find out the cause, whether there is sclerosing cystic ovary syndrome, physiological cysts or other endocrine dysfunction; if so, targeted treatment should be given to the above conditions at the same time as the treatment of atypical hyperplasia. For atypical hyperplasia, there are two options for treatment: medication and surgery. The specific decision should be made based on the patient's age, fertility intentions, and condition. |
