Lower abdominal pain after menstruation may be pelvic inflammatory disease. Pelvic inflammatory disease is a common disease in women. It is mainly related to bacterial infection, decreased immunity and other factors. The main symptoms are lower abdominal pain, increased vaginal discharge, pain during sexual intercourse, etc.

What are the symptoms of pelvic inflammatory disease?

1. In the early stage of menstrual disorders, excessive menstruation or irregular bleeding can be seen. Patients with a long course of illness may have scanty menstruation or amenorrhea.

2. Due to the destruction and adhesion of the fallopian tube mucosa, or the destruction of the mucosal cilia, the lumen is blocked or the peristalsis of the fallopian tube is restricted, leading to infertility.

3. Lower abdominal pain is caused by pelvic inflammation and adhesions, or the formation of tuberculous fallopian tube and ovarian abscess.

4. Increased leucorrhea is a common symptom when combined with cervical tuberculosis, and the leucorrhea may be purulent or bloody.

5. The fever is generally low-grade and may reach above 39°C in some patients. It is obvious during the menstrual period. If there is a fever during every menstrual period, it is a unique symptom of genital tuberculosis.

6. Night sweats, fatigue, weight loss, loss of appetite, etc. If there is ascites, you may feel abdominal distension.

Follow your doctor's advice for treatment.

Treatment of pelvic inflammatory disease:

1. When pelvic inflammatory disease occurs, you should rest in bed and use a semi-recumbent position. This can allow pus to accumulate and reduce the chance of infecting other organs.

2. Doctors usually give patients with pelvic inflammatory disease drug treatment and will choose anti-inflammatory drugs based on the condition of the disease. Oral medication is used for patients with mild conditions, while intravenous or intramuscular injection is used for patients with severe conditions.

3. Pelvic inflammatory disease can also be treated surgically. The doctor will develop a surgical plan based on the patient's age and fertility requirements. During surgery, the abscess is removed and the pus is drained out.

4. For the treatment of pelvic inflammatory disease, physical therapy can also be used, that is, shortwave, laser, etc. are used for treatment. This method is more suitable for chronic pelvic inflammatory disease.
