Eight months pregnant, vagina is very itchy

During pregnancy, the pregnant mother and her family will pay close attention to the pregnant mother's physical changes and feelings, and will be extremely nervous if any physical discomfort occurs. A few pregnant mothers feel that their vulva is particularly itchy after 8 months of pregnancy, but they don’t know why and are worried every day. If a pregnant mother experiences severe itching of the vulva, it is recommended that she seek medical attention promptly, as it is likely caused by gynecological inflammation and should be treated early. So what causes vulvar itching during pregnancy? There are mainly the following reasons:

1. Vulvar itching caused by mental factors

Medical research has shown that after women become pregnant, certain changes in their lives, such as reduced or interrupted sexual intercourse, fear of pregnancy, insomnia, etc., often cause vulvar itching.

2. Vulvar itching caused by external stimulation

Itching can be caused by excessive sweat, moisture, and immersion; wearing underwear with a harder texture or some expectant mothers being allergic to certain chemical fiber underwear can also cause itching; using soap to clean the vulva can cause itching, etc.

3. Vulvar itching caused by vaginal inflammation

Vulvar itching is the main symptom of diseases such as candidal vaginitis, Trichomonas vaginitis, and vulvar eczema.

4. Gestational diabetes

When suffering from diabetes, due to the irritation of the vulvar skin by urine sugar, it is easy to develop bacterial vulvar and vaginitis, causing vulvar itching. When jaundice occurs due to liver, gallbladder and other diseases, vulvar itching may also occur due to the increase of bilirubin in the blood and the irritation of the skin by bile salts.

5. Note

Never perform vaginal douches, which is washing the genitals with a stream of water. Vaginal douching can cause an imbalance in the normal flora in the vagina and increase the chance of vaginal infection. Also, doctors and midwives discourage instillation during pregnancy because, in rare cases, it can pass through the vagina and introduce air into your circulatory system, causing serious complications. You also shouldn't scrub your vagina, as this can damage the vaginal mucosa and disrupt the vagina's natural protective barrier.
