Symptoms of poor embryo quality

Symptoms of poor embryo quality

An embryo refers to the fetus that has not yet taken shape in the uterus of a pregnant woman in the early stages of conception. The quality of the embryo cannot be seen in the early stages. However, in order to ensure the quality of the embryo, during the pregnancy preparation period, both husband and wife can make certain efforts to improve the quality of sperm and eggs. This can fundamentally improve the quality of the embryo and successfully conceive. It can also avoid, to a certain extent, the baby's future developmental defects such as deformities.

1. What does poor embryo quality mean?

The purpose of embryo rating is mainly to assess its developmental potential. It cannot tell whether the fetus that develops from the embryo in the later stage will be healthy, intelligent, and free of deformities. In other words, the better the quality of the embryo, the higher the chance of embryo implantation and the higher the rate of successful pregnancy; and those embryos of poor quality only mean that the chance of implantation after transplantation is low, and it does not mean that the baby will be deformed or unhealthy later.

2. Why is the embryo quality poor?

1. The embryo is formed by the combination of sperm and egg, so if the quality of sperm and egg is poor, the quality of the embryo will also deteriorate.

The quality of the eggs is determined by the female, and is affected by genetics, age, endocrine system, psychology, environment, and living habits, which can result in the eggs obtained being poorly mature, of poor quality, or having some abnormalities that cannot be seen in surface morphology, and it is often impossible to culture good embryos later.

The quality of sperm is determined by the man. Like the woman, it is affected by genetic factors. However, the difference from the woman is that the man is not as obviously affected by age. Instead, it may be more related to his bad living habits, such as smoking, alcoholism, obesity, etc. The quality of the male's sperm is also related to his endocrine system, immunity, urogenital system infection, scrotal temperature, etc.

2. Embryonic fragments can also affect the embryo's developmental potential and is one of the main culprits leading to poor embryo quality. Experts say that fragments are produced during the development of the embryo, and will be produced regardless of in vitro culture or in vivo development. A small amount of fragments will not have much impact on the quality of the embryo, but a large amount of fragments will affect the quality of the embryo.

3. How to improve embryo quality?

First of all, from the most important factor of age, aging is irreversible, so experts from the Reproductive Center of Yunnan Jiuzhou Hospital remind everyone not to spend a lot of money to buy the so-called magic medicine that helps eggs become younger. You must know that there is no magic pill in the world that can "rejuvenate".

The best thing you can do is to get pregnant as early as possible before the age of 35. If you have not gotten pregnant after trying for a year, go to a regular hospital for a check-up in time. If you are a female friend over the age of 35, it is recommended that you seek medical attention in time if you have not gotten pregnant after trying for half a year. Don't wait until you have completely lost your fertility and then regret it.

Although age cannot be changed, we can adjust our lifestyle habits, not smoking, not drinking, exercising more, and eating more foods containing vitamins and high protein to help couples obtain high-quality eggs and sperm, thereby improving the quality of the embryo and ultimately increasing the success rate.
