What to do if your uterus is enlarged?

Uterine hypertrophy is a common physical disease for many women. It is caused by changes in the blood vessels on the uterine wall. Uterine hypertrophy can easily lead to irregular menstruation, abnormal leucorrhea, or excessive leucorrhea. It can also easily lead to low back pain, etc. It can be treated with conservative treatment methods and pay more attention to rest.

How to treat uterine hypertrophy?

treat

In general, conservative treatment is considered for conditions such as uterine hypertrophy; androgen therapy can reduce bleeding. If conservative treatment fails, total hysterectomy may be considered. For those under 50 years old with normal ovaries, they should be retained.

Causes

1. Uterine reasons

(1) In multiparous women, elastic fibers in the uterine myometrium proliferate between smooth muscles and around blood vessels, causing uterine hypertrophy.

(2) Primary uterine vascular disease causes uterine hypertrophy.

2. Ovarian dysfunction

Continuous stimulation of estrogen can cause thickening of the uterine muscle layer. Clinically, patients with functional uterine bleeding, especially those with a long course of illness, often have varying degrees of uterine enlargement.

3. Inflammation

Chronic adnexitis, pelvic connective tissue inflammation and chronic uterine myositis cause collagen fiber proliferation in the myometrium, resulting in uterine fibrosis.

4. Pelvic congestion

It causes hyperplasia of uterine connective tissue and may also lead to uterine hypertrophy.

5. Pathogens

The pathogens that cause cervical hypertrophy include mycoplasma, chlamydia, bacteria, and viruses.

Clinical manifestations

1. Excessive menstrual flow and prolonged duration;

2. The cycle is shortened to about 20 days, and there is no significant change in the amount of menstruation and the duration of menstruation;

3. The menstrual period is prolonged, but the menstrual flow is not much.

Most of the patients are multiparous women, and most of them have given birth to three or more children. Those who have been ill for a long time and have lost a lot of blood will appear anemic. Gynecological examination showed that the uterus was uniformly enlarged, generally the size of a 6-week gestation, with a few exceeding the size of an 8-week gestation, and had a tough texture. The ovaries may be slightly enlarged and have multiple follicular cysts.

examine

1. Ultrasound examination.

2. Diagnostic curettage to explore the uterine cavity.
