Can I use moxibustion on my lower abdomen during pregnancy preparation?

Moxibustion is currently a popular way to regulate the body. Some women can further regulate their bodies by applying moxibustion to their lower abdomen. However, if a woman does this while preparing for pregnancy, it is not clear whether it is allowed. Because the physical requirements for women during pregnancy preparation should be relatively high. So can I use moxibustion on my lower abdomen during the pregnancy preparation period?

(1) Moxibustion is acceptable during pregnancy preparation. For women, moxibustion can dredge the meridians, promote qi and blood circulation, remove dampness and cold, and treat dysmenorrhea and some gynecological diseases. Moxibustion uses the pure yang heat of moxa fire and the medicinal power to give the human body a warm stimulation, and regulates the yin and yang balance of internal organs through the conduction of meridians and acupoints, so as to achieve the purpose of curing and preventing diseases, and maintaining health.

(2) Moxibustion has six major effects: dredging the meridians and activating the collaterals, promoting the flow of qi and blood, removing dampness and expelling cold, reducing swelling and dispersing nodules, restoring yang and rescuing adverse conditions, and preventing diseases and maintaining health. Moxibustion is mainly used for internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, and ENT diseases. It is especially effective for mastitis, prostatitis, periarthritis of the shoulder, pelvic inflammatory disease, cervical spondylosis, diabetes, etc.

(3) Moxibustion medicine is pungent and warm, and enters the liver, spleen, and kidney meridians. It can be taken internally to treat uterine cold and dysmenorrhea. Moxibustion for treating uterine cold first uses the technique of supporting yang to strengthen the foundation, enhance spleen and kidney function, and improve immunity. Moxibustion is used on the key acupoints for women's health care to warm the uterus and kidneys, thereby achieving the effects of warming the meridians and dispersing cold, generating qi and blood, resolving blood stasis and relieving pain, and regulating endocrine. It can effectively regulate a series of gynecological symptoms such as cold hands and feet, fear of cold, low back pain, irregular menstruation, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, etc.

(4) In terms of seasons, winter is the time when the human body is coldest and when the Yang energy is weakest. Therefore, winter moxibustion is especially important for people with a cold constitution. Regarding time, there is no particularly fixed time for moxibustion. Moxibustion can be performed at any time. It can be done before or after meals, in the morning or evening. It is fine to do it before meals as long as you are not too hungry. It can be done half an hour to an hour after meals. It is not allowed to do it when you are too full or too hungry.

(5) Finally, it should be noted that moxibustion should not be performed on the lumbar and sacral areas, lower abdomen, and nipples, genitals, and testicles of pregnant women, as well as men and women. In addition, do not apply moxibustion directly to the joints. In addition, do not apply moxibustion to large blood vessels or the heart, and do not apply moxibustion to the eyeballs which are part of the facial area. Women should not use moxibustion during menstruation. You can use moxibustion during the ovulation period, but avoid the Shimen acupoint (Ren meridian, 2 inches below the navel), which is used for contraception. It is best not to use moxibustion after having sex during ovulation.
