Can I eat beef when I am pregnant?

After pregnancy, there are many things that pregnant women can no longer eat, because if they consume too much junk food, it will have a certain degree of impact on the fetus and the pregnant woman herself. Beef is rich in protein. Eating more beef can increase the strength of human muscles. This is why Westerners are stronger than Orientals. Let’s find out below, can you eat beef when you are pregnant?

According to relevant experts, pregnant women should eat lean beef 3 to 4 times a week, 60 to 100 grams each time, which can not only prevent iron deficiency anemia but also enhance the immunity of expectant mothers.

Based on the nutritional content of beef, we can also judge whether eating beef is beneficial for pregnant women. In fact, pregnant women's needs for iron and zinc are 1.5 times that of ordinary people. Every 100 grams of beef tendon contains 3 mg of iron, which is about 10% of the recommended amount of iron during pregnancy; and 8.5 mg of zinc, which is about 77% of the recommended amount of zinc during pregnancy. The nutritional value is higher than that of general natural foods.

Lean beef will not have a negative impact on blood cholesterol levels. Adequate iron can maintain normal hemoglobin, which can carry blood oxygen to the brain and other important organs, protect the heart.

On the other hand, it can make the muscles produce sufficient energy, so that they can move vigorously and not get tired easily. Symptoms of iron deficiency include tiredness, lack of energy, drowsiness, difficulty concentrating, and dizziness. Once the body's iron stores are depleted, anemia can easily result.

If a woman is iron deficient during pregnancy, she should replenish it promptly after delivery, otherwise the body's deficiency may be difficult to make up for. Zinc is not only beneficial to the development of the fetal nervous system, but also to the immune system and helps maintain healthy skin, bones and hair. When zinc is deficient, a person's immunity is weakened, making them more susceptible to illness, which can have an adverse effect on the fetus's neurological development. The zinc in beef is more easily absorbed than the zinc in plant sources. The human body absorbs 21% to 26% of the zinc in beef, while the absorption rate of zinc in whole wheat bread is only 14%.

Therefore, pregnant women can eat beef, but they must pay attention to the amount of beef they eat.
