How to do a breast biopsy?

Breasts are a great tool to show women's personal charm. Full and round breasts always make women full of confidence and are more likely to attract the attention of the opposite sex. However, no matter how beautiful the breasts are, there may be problems with the mammary glands, because almost all women will suffer from breast disease. So how should the so-called breast biopsy be performed in the hospital? Is there anything we need to pay attention to?

What is a needle biopsy?

Breast needle biopsy refers to the use of a liver tissue puncture needle or a general venous puncture needle to pierce the breast lump to obtain biopsy tissue for examination.

Advantages of needle biopsy

There are two methods of biopsy (abbreviated as biopsy): puncture needle biopsy and surgical biopsy. As for surgical biopsy, puncture biopsy causes little damage to normal tissue, with only a needle-hole-sized wound. The patient only needs local anesthesia, and the cost is lower. After a clear diagnosis is made, the anesthesia time during surgery can be reduced, the number of unnecessary surgeries can be reduced, and doctors can be more targeted when signing preoperative interviews instead of being repetitive, saving a lot of time.

In clinical practice, doctors routinely use hollow needle puncture biopsy, which is easier for doctors to operate, causes minimal trauma to patients, and allows for rapid development of treatment plans.

Clinical significance of puncture biopsy

Normal value: The test result is negative.

Abnormal result: The test result is positive, confirming the presence of breast cancer cells.

Preparation for a biopsy

Before the puncture, the patient needs to do certain preparations. First, they need to provide a detailed medical history and previous imaging data for reference. If there is no imaging data, the corresponding examinations should be completed as soon as possible after hospitalization. Secondly, if B-ultrasound positioning has been done before puncture, the local positioning mark needs to be kept dry and avoid wiping.
