Slight vaginal bleeding during pregnancy

Slight vaginal bleeding during pregnancy

In theory, the fetal position of women is relatively stable during the second trimester, and miscarriage is not likely to occur during this period. Leader bleeding is a common clinical problem. Some women also experience this condition during pregnancy. When this happens, it is important to pay attention to it, especially for pregnant women. So what does a small amount of vaginal bleeding during pregnancy mean?

1. Ectopic pregnancy

The most common ectopic pregnancy is tubal pregnancy. Vaginal bleeding is one of the main symptoms of tubal pregnancy. Because the fallopian tube lacks a complete decidua and is not suitable for the development of a fertilized egg, the embryo dies early and the embryonic sac separates from the tube wall and enters the abdominal cavity, which is called fallopian tube abortion. Or the fallopian tube ruptures and causes intra-abdominal bleeding, causing hemoperitoneum. After the embryo dies, the decidua loses the support of HCG and peels off from the uterine wall, causing vaginal bleeding. Patients often have a history of infertility, and vaginal bleeding often occurs 6 to 8 weeks after amenorrhea. The amount of bleeding is small, but it continues until the fallopian tube lesions are removed. The uterine decidua can fall off completely and be discharged in the form of triangular tubular objects, called decidual casts, which have diagnostic value for fallopian tube pregnancy. When a fallopian tube pregnancy fails or ruptures, it causes hemoabdomen, which leads to severe abdominal pain, and excessive bleeding can cause shock.

2. Pregnancy-preserving drugs

After spotting in the second trimester, if it is the first pregnancy and neither the embryo nor the mother has any other diseases or abnormalities, it is particularly important to protect the fetus. Pregnant women need to rest in bed, refrain from sexual intercourse, and take pregnancy-preserving drugs if necessary.

3. Others

The amount of vaginal bleeding varies depending on the type of abortion. Most pregnant women experience paroxysmal pain in the lower abdomen. As the disease progresses, vaginal bleeding may gradually increase, and symptoms such as increased frequency and severity of abdominal pain, coldness in the abdomen, and sometimes inability to feel fetal movement may occur. When the blood is dark red or brown, it may also be a small amount of coffee-colored secretions. The amount of bleeding varies, generally starting from a small amount and gradually increasing, and there are blister-like substances in the blood. Before heavy vaginal bleeding, there is often persistent abdominal pain due to increased and larger intrauterine bleeding and vesicular material, which causes the uterus to expand rapidly.
