Is there a high chance of another ectopic pregnancy?

After experiencing an ectopic pregnancy, the probability of having another ectopic pregnancy is 10%-30%. Because during the conservative treatment or surgical treatment of ectopic pregnancy, there will be scar tissue in the fallopian tubes on both sides. If you have intercourse again and get pregnant, the embryo may implant in the scar, which may lead to the possibility of ectopic pregnancy again. In the future, if you need to prepare for pregnancy or become pregnant, you should try to perform bilateral fallopian tube angiography examination, and you can also perform pressure testing under B-ultrasound examination. It is necessary to determine whether the fallopian tubes on both sides are unobstructed. Pregnancy can only occur if they are unobstructed to avoid the possibility of ectopic pregnancy. In addition, after the ectopic pregnancy surgery, active anti-inflammatory treatment must be carried out to avoid the recurrence of fallopian tube blockage.

After experiencing an ectopic pregnancy, the probability of another ectopic pregnancy is around 10% to 30%. The cause of ectopic pregnancy is generally due to obstruction of both fallopian tubes, inflammation of both fallopian tubes, or congenital abnormalities in the growth and development of both fallopian tubes. If both fallopian tubes are preserved during the treatment of ectopic pregnancy, the probability of another ectopic pregnancy will be higher. Recurrent ectopic pregnancies can also occur in the other side of the fallopian tube, indicating that both sides of the fallopian tubes have the same potential dysfunction. If both fallopian tubes of the affected limb are removed during the treatment of ectopic pregnancy, the probability of ectopic pregnancy occurring next time will be reduced.

The probability of another ectopic pregnancy after an ectopic pregnancy is about 50%. The probability of bilateral ectopic pregnancy in one side of the fallopian tube and bilateral ectopic pregnancy in the other side of the fallopian tube is 3 to 4 times higher than that in healthy women. The main causes of bilateral ectopic pregnancy in the fallopian tubes are as follows: first, inflammation of the bilateral fallopian tubes causes hematoma, edema, adhesions of the bilateral fallopian tube mucosa, and damage to the microvilli of the bilateral fallopian tubes, which makes it impossible for the sperm and egg to be successfully transported to the uterine cavity, where the embryo implants and causes ectopic pregnancy. The second thing to consider is the abnormal growth and development of the bilateral fallopian tubes. For example, the bilateral fallopian tubes are too slender, and the growth and development of the bilateral fallopian tube microvilli are abnormal, which can cause bilateral ectopic pregnancy in the fallopian tubes.

Pelvic tumors can compress the fallopian tubes on both sides, which can also affect the transportation of sperm and egg, causing bilateral ectopic pregnancy in the fallopian tubes. This influencing factor usually affects not only one side of the fallopian tube, but both sides of the fallopian tube. Therefore, if one side has an ectopic pregnancy, the probability of ectopic pregnancy on the other side will be further increased. In order to avoid the occurrence of this situation, angiography should be done before the next pregnancy to assess the condition of the other side's fallopian tubes, and then decide whether to have artificial insemination or assisted reproduction.
