What is the use of urine routine test during pregnancy

Many pregnant women have a question when doing a routine urine test: why do they need to do a routine urine test when they are pregnant? In fact, it is necessary for pregnant women to do routine urine tests, because this can timely discover whether there are some signs of disease, and take preventive and treatment measures in time. For example, routine urine tests can also measure urine sugar levels and understand whether pregnant women have diabetes.

1. Why do pregnant women do urine tests?

1. As one of the mandatory inspection items, urine test can reflect the body function of pregnant women early. If there is any abnormality, it can be discovered and treated early without delaying the disease.

2. During pregnancy, a routine urine test can be the first to detect precursors of diseases such as preeclampsia, so as to achieve early prevention and treatment. Proteinuria may be found during a urine test, which is a very strong precursor. Once discovered, further examination is needed to rule out or confirm the existence of this possibility.

3. Pregnancy is a high-risk period for diabetes. At this time, urine sugar tests should be done to determine the blood sugar level of pregnant women and prevent diabetes.

2. Methods of collecting urine samples

1. First of all, you should pay attention to cleaning your private parts to prevent the urine sample from being contaminated by leucorrhea or male prostaglandins, which will make the urine sample invalid;

2. Secondly, you need to make sure that the urine cup you use is clean and uncontaminated; and that you are not in any abnormal condition and are not in the menstrual period;

3. When taking urine samples, pay attention to taking the middle part of your urine as the urine sample. Generally speaking, according to the order of personal urination, it will be divided into the front, middle and back stages. Because the urine at the beginning and end is not an ideal test sample, it is easy to be mixed with other things and cause contamination, so it is necessary to take the middle part of the urine;

4. If the urine sample submitted for testing is contaminated, it cannot be used as a valid sample and a new sample needs to be collected;

5. There are quantity requirements for the samples submitted for inspection, which are generally required to be more than 10 ml. If there is no scale on the urine cup, the amount must generally be more than half a cup.
