1. Drug preparation

Enema prescriptions are usually prepared temporarily based on the different conditions of the patients. After decoction, it is concentrated to a certain dosage and put into a container for later use. If using powder, just add and mix thoroughly when using.

2. Usage

First, prepare an anal tube and apply a small amount of paraffin oil on the outside to make it lubricated so as not to irritate or damage the anus and intestinal mucosa during insertion; then insert the anal tube into the anus, and the insertion depth depends on the disease and the site of the lesion, generally about 10-30 mm; then inject the prepared medicine through a syringe or drip it through an enema tube. The amount of enema solution and the retention time also need to be determined according to the condition of the patient. For example, in uremia, the volume is generally about 200-500 ml, which should be retained for 2-3 hours; intestinal obstruction, the volume is generally about 500 ml, which should be retained for 1-2 hours; and in ulcerative colitis, the volume is generally about 30-100 ml, which should be retained for 4-8 hours.

Clinical Application

In addition to laxatives, this therapy is also used for the following diseases:

Renal failure

1. Take raw rhubarb, oyster, and dandelion for enema, and do not use other ingredients under controlled conditions.

Influential drugs. For patients with non-terminal renal failure, nitrogen can be reduced, symptoms can disappear or be alleviated. A small number of patients with severe renal failure can survive up to 8 months, and moderate patients can survive for more than 1 year. Rhubarb can also be used as the main medicine in combination with other medicines to relieve constipation. 2. Take rhubarb, Sophora japonica flowers, and Bengdawan, decoct them in water, and use them for enema.

3. Take rhubarb and cinnamon twigs, decoct them in water, and use them for enema.

4. Take rhubarb, radish seeds, licorice, decoct in water, and use for enema.
