What are the methods of drug treatment for trichomoniasis vaginitis

Trichomonas vaginitis is a common gynecological disease among women, mostly occurring in middle-aged women. When women are infected with this disease, they will experience vulvar itching and lower abdominal pain. In severe cases, the vagina may also become swollen and congested, and it may be extremely itchy. This is very harmful to women. Once a woman finds that she has trichomoniasis, she must seek treatment in time. Now let's talk about the drug treatments for trichomoniasis.

Method 1: Local treatment

1. Enhance the vagina's defense ability:

Flush the vagina with 0.5-1% lactic acid or acetic acid or 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution, or add glucose powder and sprinkle it into the vagina to restore the normal physiological defense function of the vagina, inhibit the growth and reproduction of Trichomonas, and achieve the purpose of preventing the disease.

(ii) Anti-trichomoniasis drugs:

Metronidazole tablets or suppositories are placed in the vagina after vaginal douching. Or use carbachol or diazepam. To prevent recurrence, repeat the medication for one week after the second and third menstruation. At the same time, vaginal secretions are taken for examination. If the results are negative for three consecutive times, the patient is considered cured.

Method 2: Systemic treatment

Because Trichomonas parasitizes in many places in the human body, patients with Trichomonas vaginitis often have intestinal or urinary tract Trichomonas infection. Therefore, Trichomonas can not only parasitize in the folds of the vagina and vaginal mucosa, but also deep in the urinary tract and cervical glands. It is not easy to completely cure the disease with local medication alone, and it often needs to be combined with systemic medication. Metronidazole is a highly effective drug for killing Trichomonas. It has good oral absorption, high efficacy, low toxicity and is easy to use.

Prevention of Trichomonas vaginitis:

Because Trichomonas is highly adaptable to changing environments and has considerable resistance to soapy water of different concentrations, it is easily spread. Therefore, it is particularly important to do a good job in health prevention. The following points should be noted:

1. Eliminate the source of infection.

Because the disease is highly contagious, widely prevalent, and a considerable proportion of healthy people are carriers, routine leucotrichomoniasis examinations should be performed on gynecological and obstetric outpatient clinics and inpatients as much as possible to strive for early detection and timely treatment to eliminate the source of infection. To achieve the goal of prevention and treatment, regular surveys and treatments should be carried out in factories, schools, township enterprises and residents, and attention should be paid to the prevention and treatment of the patient's spouse.

2. Eliminate the channels of transmission.

Improve citizens' living welfare, encourage showering, abolish public baths, change sit-down toilets to squat-down ones, strictly prohibit trichomoniasis patients from entering swimming pools, and do not rent out public swimsuits and towels. The examination instruments and bedding used in the hospital should be strictly disinfected. Each person must have a disinfectant towel on the examination table and it must be replaced immediately after use.

3. Carry out health education work to improve people’s awareness of prevention.

4. Strictly manage and isolate patients and carriers of the parasite.
