Will I get mastitis after weaning?

Many mothers worry that their children will get mastitis after weaning. Is this really the case? Generally speaking, mastitis is more common among mothers who have just given birth. This is because newborns have small appetites and eat less. However, some mothers with abundant milk may suffer from mastitis when weaning. Let’s take a look at the following introduction.

First, in terms of diet, pay attention to a light diet, avoid eating greasy food, drink less water and soup, especially fish soup, chicken soup and other milk-producing foods, and eat more hawthorn, leek and other foods.

Second, after weaning, wear a bra that fits better and is slightly tighter. This can inhibit milk secretion and relieve breast pain.

Third, when weaning, don’t rush. Under normal circumstances, babies can be weaned after ten months of breastfeeding. Mothers should gradually reduce the number of breastfeeding times, from three times a day to two or once. If there is still excess milk, it must not be accumulated in the breasts. A breast pump should be used to squeeze it out until the breasts are soft and there is no swelling or pain.

Fourth, under the doctor’s advice, use appropriate medication to stop breastfeeding. In addition, if breast lumps, local redness of the breast skin, fever and other symptoms appear during weaning, you should go to a regular hospital for treatment as soon as possible.
