What are the dangers of induced abortion in late pregnancy?

Induced abortion at later stage is a measure to terminate the pregnancy of an already formed fetus through artificial means. It is particularly harmful to women's bodies. Everyone's physique is different, and the degree to which the body can withstand it is also different. Generally, the stomach will hurt and feel bloated. If the body has not completely discharged, measures must be taken to clean the uterus. In fact, the process of induced labor in late pregnancy is similar to that of childbirth, and both have a great impact on the body, so it is important to do a good job of post-care.

It is easier to damage the uterine wall during induced labor, and the surgery involves greater risks. The possible dangers of induced abortion in late pregnancy include uterine rupture, infection, heavy bleeding, birth canal injury, and even endangerment to the woman’s life. Induced abortions at late pregnancy seriously violate the relevant policies and regulations of my country's National Population and Family Planning Commission. The Commission recently announced that it would resolutely put an end to induced abortions at late pregnancy.

Due to the advanced stage of pregnancy, it is easier to damage the uterine wall during induced labor, and the operation will involve greater risks. Possible harms of induced labor in late pregnancy:

1. Uterine rupture: If the fetal position is not clear or the fetus is malformed before induction of labor, the fetus cannot be delivered from the vagina, which will lead to uterine rupture. If a woman has undergone multiple abortions before induced labor, the uterine wall may be damaged and the uterus may contract strongly, leading to uterine rupture.

2. Infection: During the process of induced labor or within 2 weeks of induced labor, if the mother's fever reaches 38 degrees or above and does not drop for 24 hours, it is considered infection.

3. Heavy bleeding: After induced abortion, the uterus may sometimes experience bleeding symptoms. If the bleeding is heavy in a short period of time, it may cause shock and threaten the life of the pregnant woman.

4. Birth canal injury: During the process of induced labor, the woman’s birth canal may be injured due to the fetus or surgical instruments.

Patients undergoing surgery need to be hospitalized, and patients who have undergone induced labor will experience uterine contractions. Usually, patients after uterine contractions will feel intermittent abdominal pain. As the uterine contractions intensify, the abdominal pain also intensifies. Patients have to endure tremendous pain at this time. Many women cannot tolerate the abdominal pain and move around during the operation. Sometimes they experience nausea, vomiting, cold sweats, etc., and even fainting and shock, which brings great psychological and physical harm to female friends. The pain of uterine cleaning after induced labor makes it difficult for women to accept, and incomplete uterine cleaning leads to postpartum hemorrhage, infection, and may cause infertility. What’s worse, it may lead to uterine perforation, intestinal perforation, etc., causing serious complications and endangering women’s lives.
