How long does the IVF procedure take?

The test tube transplant surgery cannot be completed in a short time. It requires certain steps, such as examination, ovulation induction, egg retrieval and embryo transplantation. These are all necessary steps, so the time is relatively long, especially in the later stages. Women must maintain a cheerful and optimistic attitude and actively cooperate with doctors for treatment. One cycle takes 2 to 3 months.

The in vitro fertilization procedure is a procedure that artificially removes sperm and eggs, cultivates them into embryos in the laboratory, and then transplants the embryos into the woman's uterus to achieve the purpose of assisting pregnancy.

The specific process of in vitro fertilization is: screening of both husband and wife → the couple brings three certificates and all test reports to the center to open a card and sign an informed consent form → the doctor selects an ovulation induction plan based on the patient's condition → enters the ovulation induction cycle (8-12 days) → egg retrieval → embryo transfer → routine luteal support after surgery → blood/urine test 14 days after transplantation.

1. Preoperative examination time takes 1-2 months.

Before the IVF operation, the male needs to have his semen tested, and the female also needs to complete some basic examinations, such as gynecological examination, curettage, fallopian tube permeability test, antisperm antibodies, liver function and hepatitis B two-pair-half test, blood routine analysis and coagulation time and basic endocrine hormone measurement (3rd day of menstruation), etc., which are divided into menstrual period examination and non-menstrual period examination. The preoperative examination stage does not affect work.

2. Ovarian induction stage: about 1 month.

Because each patient's physical condition is different, the appropriate ovulation induction plan is also different. Some patients have good ovarian function and are suitable for a long plan; some patients with poor ovarian function are suitable for a short plan. The time for different plans is different.

3. Egg retrieval, sperm retrieval and transplantation: about 10 days.

After using egg-stimulating drugs for about 10 days, when the follicles mature, the eggs can be retrieved and sperm can be collected at the same time for in vitro fertilization. After 3 days of culture, the fertilized eggs develop into embryos and are placed in the uterine cavity. After transplantation, rest in bed for 2 to 4 hours. Generally speaking, you must rest for 2-3 days after embryo transfer. Whether you can work depends on the nature of the work.

4. Take a pregnancy test after 14 days.

14 days after embryo transfer, a morning urine test is performed to confirm pregnancy. If pregnant, B-ultrasound examination will be performed 14 days after pregnancy to check the number of fetuses and the site of embryo implantation.

IVF experts remind: Whether you can go to work during the IVF operation depends on the physical condition of each patient. If you are not in good health, it is recommended to rest well and welcome this hard-won little life in the best condition to avoid wasting all your previous efforts. At the same time, making good preparations before IVF surgery can also save a lot of IVF surgery time.
