How long does it take for lochia to be discharged after a caesarean section?

Many friends think that there will be no lochia after caesarean section. In fact, this is not true. Both caesarean section and natural birth, including induced labor, will cause lochia, so everyone should be clear about this. After a caesarean section, the lochia will usually clear up within 20 days. If lochia persists for a long time and there is vaginal bleeding, you should seek medical attention immediately.

How long does it take for lochia to clean up after a cesarean section? 1. Under normal circumstances, lochia has a bloody smell, but it is not smelly, the amount does not exceed the menstrual volume, and the color is transparent and shiny, not dark or dirty. It will be clean after about half a month to 20 days.

2. Due to individual differences, the duration of lochia discharge after childbirth is not necessarily the same for each female friend. Under normal circumstances, the lochia will stop about 3 weeks after a woman gives birth.

3. If lochia is still leaking more than 2 months after delivery, it should be considered as lochia retention. Common causes of lochia include infection in the uterine cavity, remnants of pregnancy materials such as placenta, decidua and other tissues in the uterine cavity, and incomplete recovery of the uterus.

4. If the lochia is still not clear one month after the caesarean section, and is accompanied by a foul or rancid odor, or is accompanied by abdominal pain, fever and other symptoms, then the uterus, fallopian tubes, vagina, and ovaries may be infected; if the amount of lochia increases day by day, the color becomes redder and darker day by day, or some bruises appear, or is accompanied by uterine bleeding, vaginal trauma, or symptoms of infection, etc., resulting in the lochia always being unclear, everyone must pay enough attention and go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time.
