Does pelvic effusion really affect pregnancy?

Pelvic effusion is a common symptom in women, which is mostly caused by chronic diseases, such as gynecological diseases, inflammation of the ovaries or fallopian tubes. When pelvic effusion occurs, it may cause infertility in women, and it may easily cause miscarriage for pregnant women, cause lower abdominal pain, etc. Therefore, when pelvic effusion occurs, it must be treated promptly.

Pelvic effusion refers to the presence of inflammatory exudate in the pelvic cavity. It usually occurs after the endometrium becomes inflamed. It is a slightly viscous fluid that exudes from the swollen cells of the endometrial tissue and is gradually wrapped by the surrounding tissue to form a cystic mass.

Generally speaking, pelvic effusion is divided into physiological and pathological. Physiological pelvic effusion mostly occurs in women after ovulation or in early pregnancy. It can disappear naturally and does not require treatment. It has no effect on pregnancy. Pathological gynecological pelvic effusion is mostly caused by pelvic inflammatory disease, adnexitis or endometriosis. If left untreated, the effusion will gradually increase and lead to female infertility.

Pelvic effusion in women may be caused by chronic infection lesions, such as inflammation of the gynecological system, ovaries, and fallopian tubes, or by tuberculosis or tumors. These diseases will affect fertility if left untreated for a long time.

Pelvic effusion can easily lead to pelvic adhesions, fallopian tube obstruction, etc., which can cause infertility. If you usually have lower abdominal pain, lumbosacral pain, increased vaginal discharge, lower abdominal tenderness, cord-like thickening during gynecological examination, etc., you may be suffering from chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, which requires active treatment to prevent worsening inflammation and increased fluid accumulation.

Most pelvic effusions are caused by inflammation, that is, exudation from chronic pelvic inflammation. A few are caused by ruptured ectopic pregnancy, corpus luteum rupture, pelvic abscess, chocolate cyst, and ovarian cancer. These inflammations can also affect the combination of sperm and egg and affect pregnancy.
