What are the precautions for women after having a vasectomy?

Both men and women can undergo sterilization. Women must pay attention to some principles after sterilization. It is recommended to stay in the hospital and rest in bed for a few hours after sterilization to observe and understand the condition of the wound. If there is any discomfort, consult a doctor.

1. What is female tubal ligation?

Tubal ligation: It is a surgery to tie and cut the two fallopian tubes, so that the eggs released by the ovaries cannot enter the uterus through the fallopian tubes. There are two surgical methods: open abdominal and vaginal. The laparotomy is to make a 2 cm long incision in the lower abdomen, through which the fallopian tubes are removed and tied, while the vaginal surgery is to tie the fallopian tubes through the vagina. The hospital stay for an open abdominal surgery is about one week, and for a vaginal surgery it is three to four days.

2. Precautions for women after sterilization

1. Be hospitalized and rest in bed for 6 hours, paying attention to observe whether there is bleeding from the incision, dizziness, etc.

2. Pay attention to ensure adequate nutrient intake. You need to rest in bed for 1-2 days after the operation. This helps wound healing and prevents infection.

3. It is not suitable to eat too much sweets. After the operation, most of the candies, canned foods, malted milk, etc. given by close relatives and friends are sweets. Eating these things can easily affect the appetite and thus affect the protein intake.

4. If you do not feel any discomfort, you should get out of bed and move around as soon as possible. 3-4 days after the operation, you can gradually resume indoor activities. Do not engage in strenuous exercise and avoid postures that cause local irritation.

5. Depending on the specific situation, use antibiotics to prevent infection and provide symptomatic treatment if abdominal pain or fever occurs.

6. The stitches will be removed in about 5 days. If there is no abnormality, you can be discharged from the hospital within 1 week.

7. Go to the hospital (service station) for a checkup every 3 months, 6 months and 1 year.

8. Pain and red vaginal discharge will continue for some time after discharge, so you should follow the doctor's advice and undergo necessary examinations.

9. Do not use tonic medicine indiscriminately after ligation. Some people are afraid of being weak after surgery, so they eat ginseng to nourish themselves, but this is not conducive to recovery.

10. Women should not have sexual intercourse within two weeks after sterilization. Women who have had a miscarriage or postpartum sterilization should not have sexual intercourse until the bleeding stops within one month.
