The harm of birth control pills to women

Nowadays, many young people are very careless about their sex life. Some young men and women have sex without thinking clearly, and end up not taking proper contraceptive measures. Only after doing so do they realize that they did not take any contraceptive measures. In this case, pregnancy can only be avoided by taking emergency contraception afterwards, but many friends do not know the harm of this practice. The following is a detailed introduction to the harm of emergency contraception to women.

1. Menstrual irregularity: It is the most common side effect of women taking emergency contraception. If you take emergency contraception for more than three months, it is best to go to the hospital for a check-up. If you take it for more than half a year, you will have irregular menstruation or even amenorrhea or continuous bleeding.

2. Nausea: The estrogen in birth control pills may cause gastrointestinal discomfort, especially for puberty and thin women. This symptom usually disappears after 1-2 months. In order to relieve the nausea and vomiting reaction, you can take the medicine before going to bed or take it with meals.

3. Vomiting: About 20% of women who use birth control pills experience vomiting. Taking the pills with food or before going to bed can reduce the incidence of nausea and vomiting. If you vomit within 1 hour after taking the oral contraceptive pill, you should take another dose as soon as possible.

4. Weight change: For modern low-dose contraceptives, weight gain is relatively small. Studies have shown that some women experience a small weight loss when taking birth control pills, most remain the same, and some experience a slight increase. The study also showed that when the amount of estrogen used was equal to or less than 35 mg (Marvelon contains only 30 mg), the increase in weight was minimal.

5. Breast tenderness: Increased estrogen levels in the body can cause breast tenderness. If you experience this symptom, don't worry, it will improve within a few months. Reducing intake of coffee, tea, chocolate and drinks* can help alleviate symptoms.
