Can women still ovulate after menopause?

Can women still ovulate after menopause?

Women usually enter menopause between the ages of 45 and 55, and will experience symptoms of menopause. Generally, they will no longer ovulate after menopause, but some women will experience abnormal ovulation shortly after menopause.

1. Women's menopause usually occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, but some women may begin to experience symptoms at age 40 or earlier. The duration of menopause varies, and is related to individual nutrition, physical condition, genetics, natural conditions, social factors, etc.

2. After women reach menopause, their ovarian function will begin to decline, and it will become difficult to get pregnant or they will lose their fertility. So many women mistakenly believe that it is impossible to get pregnant after menopause. However, many "bloody lessons" tell us that pregnancy during menopause is possible.

3. Why is it still possible to get pregnant after menopause? The misunderstanding arises in the release of eggs. Many people believe that menopause means no more ovulation. In fact, the decline of ovarian ovulation function does not mean no ovulation at all. In particular, ovulation cycles are still common in the early stage of menopausal transition, and are gradually replaced by anovulatory cycles. Due to the decline of ovarian function, the original ovulation pattern is disrupted, the ovulation time is difficult to predict, and it is even possible that ovulation occurs more than once in a month. Therefore, pregnancy is still possible in the first few years of menopause, including within one year after menopause. If you don’t want to receive an “unexpected surprise”, it is recommended that menopausal women should still take contraceptive measures.

4. The ovaries are organs that produce eggs. Menopause means ovarian atrophy, functional decline, and egg depletion. Adolescent menopause can be divided into two situations. If it is due to congenital ovarian hypoplasia and the absence of eggs, it is called primary ovarian amenorrhea. If it is due to acquired reasons that cause the exhaustion of eggs in the ovaries and amenorrhea, it is called secondary ovarian amenorrhea, which is premature ovarian failure.

5. There are many causes of ovarian amenorrhea. Sometimes there are no eggs at all, sometimes a few eggs are still produced, and sometimes there are eggs but they do not respond to gonadotropins. Therefore, it cannot be understood that there are no eggs. In other words, it is still possible to get pregnant with ovarian amenorrhea. Some patients with premature ovarian failure can recover their ability to conceive after systemic treatment and once ovulation occurs.
