How to prevent postpartum depression? These seven aspects must be achieved

I believe everyone is familiar with postpartum depression. This mental illness is very harmful and can cause great harm to individuals and even the entire family. Therefore, measures to prevent this disease are needed. So how can we prevent it in our lives?

1. Physically: Expectant mothers should pay attention to physical exercise during pregnancy to improve their physical fitness, especially many women who often sit in the office. They should participate in some appropriate aerobic exercise every day to exercise their cardiopulmonary function, so that the body can recover health as soon as possible after delivery and adapt to the busy role of mother.

2. Psychologically: You should have a certain understanding of parenting knowledge before your child is born so that you won’t be in a panic after the child is born. For example, before giving birth, you can learn how to breastfeed, bathe your baby, and the correct way to hold a baby by reading, attending lectures, and observing. At the same time, you should also understand the prevention and treatment methods of some common childhood diseases. Be prepared for some unexpected situations.

3. Materially: prepare the necessary expenses and clothes, bedding, diapers, etc. for the birth of the baby, and prepare a room for the mother and child.

4. Room conditions: The room should have sufficient sunlight, but it should not directly shine on the baby and the mother, and can be blocked with window screens. Open windows every day to ventilate, replace polluted air in the room and keep the indoor air fresh. This should be done even in winter. If you are worried about the pregnant woman catching a cold, you can let the mother and child stay in another room for a while when ventilating the room.

5. Family atmosphere: Family members cannot complain or blame the mother for having a son or a daughter. Regardless of whether it is a boy or a girl, they are their own flesh and blood. They should happily accept the child and the mother and create a good and harmonious family environment for the mother.

6. Husband’s cooperation: Within one month after birth, it is best for the husband to stay with the mother and assist her in caring for the baby, such as helping her bathe the baby, change diapers, etc. Some husbands are afraid that their children’s crying will affect their sleep, so they go to sleep alone in another room at night. This will make the mother feel aggrieved and aggravate her depression symptoms. The husband should spend more time with the mother and understand his wife’s emotional abnormalities during the postpartum period to avoid quarrels. If you are on a business trip, you must find a way to get back as soon as possible to take care of your wife and children.

7. Self-regulation of the mother: The mother should be aware of the characteristics of postpartum psychology and try to avoid the generation of pessimistic emotions. Usually, make sure to get enough sleep and avoid excessive fatigue. In your spare time, you can listen to some soft and soothing music, or read some illustrated magazines, or read some humorous stories to regulate your body and mind.
