Excessive menstrual flow, blood clots and dysmenorrhea, let the experts tell you why

The menstrual volume is heavy and accompanied by blood clots, especially with obvious symptoms of dysmenorrhea. Many women may have encountered this situation. At this time, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for an examination because this may be caused by gynecological diseases.

1. Gynecological diseases

(1) Dysfunctional uterine bleeding

Functional uterine bleeding is abbreviated as "dysfunctional uterine bleeding", which refers to menstrual disorders without organic lesions. It is often manifested as irregular menstruation, excessive menstrual flow, prolonged menstruation, continuous spotting, and even irregular vaginal bleeding. In severe cases, symptoms such as heavy bleeding may occur.

(2) Uterine fibroids

Uterine fibroids are common genital tumors in women of childbearing age with a high incidence rate. Menorrhagia is common in two types of uterine fibroids: myenteric and submucosal.

(3) Chronic pelvic inflammatory disease

Pelvic inflammatory disease is a common cause of abnormal vaginal bleeding. When inflammation occurs, local blood vessels become fragile, and bleeding during menstruation is difficult to stop, often causing increased menstrual flow and prolonged menstruation.

(4) Endometriosis

Simply put, endometriosis is the growth of tissue that originally grows in the lining of the uterus in other locations. These "ectopic" endometriums interfere with the normal functions of the reproductive organs and are often accompanied by symptoms such as prolonged menstruation and menorrhagia.

2. Blood diseases

Menstruation, like other bleeding phenomena in the human body, is also regulated by the body's own coagulation system. Certain blood diseases affect blood coagulation and can also lead to menstrual disorders and menorrhagia, such as thrombocytopenic purpura, hemophilia, leukemia, aplastic anemia and other diseases.

3. Improper contraceptive methods

(1) Intrauterine device

The IUD is a commonly used contraceptive method. The most prominent problems it brings are shortened menstrual cycle, prolonged menstrual period, significantly increased menstrual flow and heavy bleeding after menstruation.

(2) Contraceptive drugs

If contraceptive pills are not taken according to the instructions, or if they are missed or taken incorrectly, it can easily lead to a disorder in the body's reproductive hormone levels, affecting the development of the endometrium and causing abnormal bleeding.

4. Others

Changes in climate and seasons, changes in living environment, emotional stress, excessive fatigue, improper diet, etc. can sometimes cause excessive menstruation.
