How to treat postpartum weakness and excessive sweating?

Postpartum physical weakness and excessive sweating make many postpartum mothers distressed, so when facing this situation, you must pay attention to reasonable adjustments, replenish water in time after sweating, and be careful not to eat cold food, and focus on calcium supplementation.

First, although sweating after childbirth is a normal physiological phenomenon, a large amount of sweating discharges water from the body. It is necessary to replenish water and salt in time to avoid dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. If a new mother sweats a lot and does not drink water in time, it will affect breastfeeding and cause insufficient milk.

Second, mothers who sweat a lot should remember to eat less cold food. After the confinement period, they can eat more fresh vegetables, especially green vegetables, to nourish yin and clear heat, and improve the secretion function of sweat glands.

Third, the indoor temperature should not be too high. Open windows appropriately for ventilation to keep the indoor air fresh and flowing. In the hospital where I gave birth, pregnant women and babies who were able to get out of bed and walk were asked to leave the room at around 4 p.m. every day. The ward was then disinfected with ultraviolet light for half an hour, and then the windows were opened for ventilation.

Fourth, new mothers should dress appropriately and not wear too many clothes, and the quilts should not be too thick, especially for mothers with yin deficiency. I remember the first day after I gave birth, I asked my husband to wipe my sweat every 10 minutes until I fell into a drowsy sleep. I could still feel my husband wiping my forehead with a dry towel.

Fifth, excessive sweating may be caused by other diseases. While treating excessive sweating after childbirth, more attention should be paid to treating the primary disease.

Sixth, calcium will be excreted with sweat. Excessive sweating can easily cause hypocalcemia, the symptoms of which are cramps in the hands and feet and muscle twitches. In addition, the fetus absorbs a lot of calcium during pregnancy, so pregnant mothers should pay more attention to calcium supplementation and eat calcium-rich foods frequently.

Seventh, the mother’s clothes, especially underwear, pajamas, quilts, etc., should be hung out to dry frequently to keep them dry and comfortable. Wash or bathe frequently to reduce irritation to the skin caused by sweat
