Urethritis can be acute or chronic, so if you want to treat it effectively, you should also understand these symptoms. In acute urethritis, patients will experience burning pain in the urethra, as well as frequent and urgent urination. Improper treatment can also cause paraurethral abscesses. 1. Symptoms The most common symptom of acute urethritis in male patients is a large amount of urethral secretions, which are mucous at first and gradually become purulent. In female patients, the urethral secretions are unique. Both men and women experience burning pain in the urethra, frequent urination, and urgency when urinating. In severe cases, urethral spasm may occur. Urine examination showed pus cells and red blood cells. In chronic urethritis, urethral secretions gradually decrease, or only a small amount of serous secretions can be seen at the urethral opening during the first urination in the morning. The urination irritation symptoms are no longer as obvious as in the acute phase, and some patients may be asymptomatic. Urethritis can spread directly to the bladder or prostate and cause cystitis or prostatitis. If acute urethritis is not treated properly, it may be complicated by paraurethral abscess, which may penetrate the skin of the penis and become urethral fistula. During the healing process of urethral inflammation, fibrosis can cause urethral stenosis. 2. General treatment 1. Drink plenty of water to increase urine volume and flush urethral secretions during urination; 2. Use sedative, analgesic and antispasmodic drugs to relieve pain 3. Pay attention to rest and avoid sexual intercourse in the short term during the acute phase 4. Antibiotic treatment (norfloxacin). Select effective antibiotics based on bacterial culture and drug sensitivity test 5. In case of chronic urethritis or urethral stenosis, urethral dilation should be performed in addition to drug treatment. 3. Other methods Acute urethritis is treated with a combination of antibiotics and chemical drugs, which has a better effect. If the patient has urinary tract irritation symptoms and conventional antimicrobial treatment is ineffective, and there are no complicating factors, mycoplasma, chlamydia or viral infection should be considered, and tetracycline can be used as the first treatment. If there is resistance to tetracycline, erythromycin, methyl erythromycin or roxithromycin can be used instead. Alternatively, you can use traditional Chinese medicine for treatment. The above medicines are effective against mycoplasma and chlamydia. If the above treatments are still ineffective, it may be acute urethral syndrome. |
