Dull abdominal pain in late pregnancy

Dull abdominal pain in late pregnancy

Many pregnant women will experience dull pain in their lower abdomen in the late stages of pregnancy. At this time, many friends who do not understand or are first-time mothers will be very worried and afraid, fearing that they may accidentally harm the baby, or that premature birth or even miscarriage will occur. So is it normal for pregnant women to have dull pain in their lower abdomen in the late stages of pregnancy? What causes it and what should they do at this time?

1. What is the reason for dull pain in the lower abdomen during late pregnancy?

1. The enlarged uterus will compress the ribs and cause pain. The baby is getting bigger and bigger, and the burden on the expectant mother is getting heavier. The continuous expansion of the uterus may press on the ribs, causing pain.

2. False labor can cause pain. False labor may cause mild distension and pain in the lower abdomen, and the frequency and duration of contractions are inconsistent. In fact, false labor also means that the expectant mother is about to give birth, so she must pay attention to rest at this time.

3. Fetal movement can also cause pain. As the baby's nose grows bigger, even stretching may cause obvious pain.

2. What to do if you have stomach pain in late pregnancy

1. False labor will last for a while, usually only 30-40 seconds, then stop for a while, and may start again after 5-6 seconds. If there is such a pattern, expectant mothers don’t have to worry and can just eat well, sleep well and prepare for giving birth.

2. If the abdominal pain is caused by fetal movement, the expectant mother does not need to worry too much and should pay more attention to rest. However, if it is accompanied by vaginal bleeding or water breaking, it is better to get a check-up.

3. If the pain is caused by the enlarged uterus pressing on the ribs, no special treatment is actually required. Generally speaking, lying on your left side can relieve pain.

3. How to distinguish true and false uterine contractions from abdominal pain in late pregnancy

False labor. A few weeks before delivery, the muscles of the uterus become sensitive and irregular uterine contractions may occur. The manifestation of false labor is that it will last for a relatively short time and usually only occurs in the lower part of the uterus. It will usually stop after a few hours, and the cervix will not open.

True contractions. Unlike false labor, true labor has a regular pattern. At first, there will be contractions every 10 minutes, and then the contractions will last longer, usually 40-60 seconds. When the uterus contracts, your stomach will hurt and your lower abdomen will feel hard.
