Take breast pain seriously, understand the cause and take appropriate measures!

Breast pain in women is a common symptom. It is a pathological phenomenon that must be taken seriously. There are many reasons for breast pain, and it may also occur before menstruation. If symptoms of breast pain occur, it must be treated in time, otherwise the consequences will be serious. So what exactly causes breast pain?

1. Breast pain during puberty

For girls aged 9-13, breasts begin to develop, and dome-shaped lumps the size of peas or beans appear in the breast tissue under the nipples, which are slightly swollen and painful. After menarche, it will disappear on its own as the breasts mature during puberty.

2. Breast pain during menstruation

Premenstrual breast pain is the most common type of pain, which usually occurs or worsens 3-7 days before the onset of menstruation. [Breast fullness, hardness, and tenderness; in severe cases, the breasts will become swollen and painful with the slightest vibration or collision]. This is caused by increased estrogen levels in the body before menstruation, breast hyperplasia, and edema of breast tissue. The above changes may disappear after menstruation.

3. Chest pain caused by mastitis

This pain is very obvious and unbearable, and is accompanied by redness, swelling and heat. It mostly occurs in primiparas within 1 to 2 months after delivery. It can be pain caused by inflammation and infection due to milk stasis and blockage, or it can be pain caused by bacterial infection due to nipple cracks. Be sure to seek medical attention promptly!

4. Chest pain caused by cervical spondylosis

Cervical spondylosis can cause chest pain, which is due to cervical vertebrae degeneration and involvement of cervical nerve roots. This pain is often chronic and unilateral. The degree of pain is often related to the position of the neck. In addition to breast tenderness, there is also tenderness in the pectoralis major muscle, as well as pain and discomfort in the neck, occipital bone, shoulders and arms. X-rays often show signs of degenerative changes, but there are no abnormalities in the breast itself.

5. Breast pain during pregnancy

For some women, when they are about 40 days pregnant, they experience breast tenderness and pain due to the large amount of estrogen, progesterone and prolactin secreted by the placenta and villi, which causes the breast to enlarge. In severe cases, the pain may last throughout the pregnancy and no treatment is needed.

6. Breast pain after sex

This is related to the physiological changes in the breasts during sexual intercourse. People with low libido or disharmonious sex life cannot achieve sexual satisfaction, so breast congestion and swelling are not easy to subside, or they subside incompletely. Continuous congestion will cause breast pain.
