How to identify poisonous ginger? Check it out now

Nowadays, there are many unscrupulous merchants on the market who, in order to make huge profits, smoke ugly ginger with chemical raw materials, turning it into "poisonous ginger". This kind of ginger seriously harms human health. So how can we identify it?

How to identify poisonous ginger

Smell: Pick up the ginger from the vendor and smell whether there is any strange smell or sulfur smell on the surface of the ginger. Ginger that has been treated with chemical raw materials or pesticides may have a residual smell of sulfur.

Look: Pick up the ginger you want to buy and take a look. Normal ginger will have a drier surface and darker color. Pesticide ginger or chemical ginger will be more tender. If you rub it with your hands, the ginger skin will peel off easily. You should be careful when purchasing this kind of ginger.

Taste: If the first two items are fine, then you can break off a small piece and taste it. If it is smoked with sulfur, the spiciness is light, that is, the ginger taste is very light, or there are other miscellaneous flavors.

Storage: Sulfur ginger or pesticide ginger will deteriorate and moldy after a few days after being exposed to the air; while ordinary ginger can be stored longer at home.

Precautions

If you are worried about eating "poisonous ginger", you can soak it in clean water several times before eating to reduce the harmful substances on the surface of the ginger, or peel the ginger before eating.
