Intestinal dampness and heat is a problem that many people have. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that this is mainly caused by insufficient positive energy in the human body and can be alleviated through conditioning. So how should intestinal dampness and heat be treated specifically?

Symptoms of gastrointestinal dampness and heat

Damp-heat in the stomach and intestines: The disease starts suddenly, with frequent nausea, vomiting and acid regurgitation, paroxysmal abdominal pain, urgent diarrhea, uncomfortable bowel movements, yellow-brown and smelly stools, thirst, irritability, short and scanty urine, yellow and greasy tongue coating, and a rapid or slippery pulse.

Damp-heat in the spleen and stomach is a disease name. It is also called damp-heat in the middle burner. It is mostly caused by dampness or improper diet, overeating of fatty and sweet foods, which leads to dampness and heat in the spleen and stomach. Symptoms include abdominal distension, fatigue and heaviness, loose stools, fever and bitter taste in the mouth, thirst without drinking much, scanty and yellow urine, and even yellow face and skin like an orange, yellow and greasy tongue coating, and a weak and rapid pulse. The treatment is mainly based on clearing heat and removing dampness.

What to do if you have damp-heat in your stomach

There are many symptoms of damp-heat in the spleen and stomach. Epigastric pain, noisy and burning sensation, dry mouth without desire to drink, hunger without desire to eat, yellow urine and difficult bowel movements are the key points in diagnosing damp-heat in the spleen and stomach. The treatment of this disease should be based on the principle of clearing away heat without hindering the removal of dampness, and removing dampness without adding heat. Sanren Decoction should be used with modifications, and wax gourd peel and Artemisia capillaris should be added to remove dampness, clear heat, and harmonize the spleen and stomach. For diarrhea caused by damp heat, Ge Gen Qin Lian Tang is often used with modifications; if jaundice occurs, Yin Chen Wu Ling San can be used with modifications.

Diet therapy for gastrointestinal damp-heat

1. Prescription of Yinchen Wuling Powder

10 grams of Pueraria root, 10 grams of Scutellaria baicalensis, 6 grams of Coptis chinensis, 10 grams of Aucklandia lappa, 12 grams of Poria cocos, 10 grams of Plantago seed, 10 grams of White Hyacinthus bean, 15 grams of Coix seed, 10 grams of lotus leaf, and 6 grams of raw licorice.

2. Four-spirit pork belly soup

Ingredients: Poria, Chinese yam, Euryale ferox, lotus seeds and pork tripe stew

1. Use salt water to clean the sticky secretions inside the pig's stomach.

2. Use a purple sand pot to stew in water. I have tried stewing in water and the soup tastes more delicious!

3. The stewing time should be controlled within two to three hours. Because I use a pressure cooker to stew it, the pork tripe stewed for two hours is already very delicious.

3. Braised bitter melon

200 grams of fresh bitter gourd, cut into shreds, soak in boiling water for a while to remove the bitterness, then put into a frying pan and stir-fry until 90% cooked, remove from the pan, and pour the sauce (containing salt and MSG) on it.

4. Red bean and coix seed drink

Add 30 grams of red beans and 30 grams of coix seeds into water and simmer for 30 minutes, then take out 100 ml of juice. Simmer for another 30 minutes and pour out the remaining 100 ml of juice. Stir the two juices evenly and drink it warm or cold.

5. Lily and Winter Melon Soup

Cut 20 grams of dried day lily into sections, soak in boiling water for 20 minutes, then add 50 grams of shredded winter melon into boiling soup. It will be ready in a moment. Add salt, MSG and a few drops of sesame oil.
