Why do I feel dizzy when I lower my head? Be careful with these

Our heads are in a shaking state every day, but some women will experience dizziness as soon as they lower their heads, which seriously affects their daily lives. So what is going on with this phenomenon?

Otolithiasis caused

There is a structure in the human inner ear that senses linear acceleration, called the macula. The otolith membrane on its surface contains many calcium carbonate crystals, medically known as otoliths, which help the human body maintain a sense of balance. When the otoliths fall off, they may fall into the semicircular canals in the inner ear, and as the body position changes, the person will experience dizziness.

The action of lowering the head will affect the blood supply to the ears, and the otoliths that play a balancing role will also change. When a person suddenly changes the position of the head, such as lowering the head, the otoliths will often fall off, causing symptoms such as dizziness and nausea, which are generally seen in "head-down tribes."

Changes in head position

Changes in head position may cause orthostatic hypotension. Orthostatic hypotension is low blood pressure caused by insufficient blood supply to the brain due to changes in body position, which in turn causes dizziness. This situation usually occurs when you suddenly stand up after squatting, or when you lower your head and then raise your head again.

Other disease factors

In addition to the factors mentioned above that may cause dizziness when lowering the head, diseases such as colds, cardiovascular diseases, brain tumors, arteriosclerosis, anemia, diabetes, etc. may also cause dizziness.

What to do if you feel dizzy when you lower your head

If the dizziness caused by lowering your head is due to insufficient blood supply to the brain, low blood pressure or anemia, you can do more exercise to strengthen your physical fitness, maintain a regular schedule, supplement your nutrition appropriately, and avoid sudden movements of lowering and raising your head.

If it is caused by cervical spondylosis, otolithiasis or other diseases, you should seek medical attention in time and take medication or treatment under the guidance of a doctor.
