There are 6 things to note when eating for patients with hypertension

Hypertension is a common chronic disease that poses a great threat to human health. It can cause a series of complications, such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, myocardial infarction, etc. There are many causes of high blood pressure, and it is also closely related to people’s daily diet, so you must pay attention to your diet when treating high blood pressure.

Six dietary precautions

1. The diet should be arranged in small meals and frequent meals to avoid overeating; patients with hypertension are usually obese and must eat more low-calorie foods, 150-250 grams of staple food per day, with animal protein and plant protein each accounting for 50%.

2. Dinner should be small and light, as excessive greasy food can induce stroke. Use vegetable oil containing vitamin E and linoleic acid for cooking oil; do not eat sweets for dinner.

In addition, you can eat more high-fiber foods for dinner, such as bamboo shoots, green vegetables, cabbage, winter melon, tomatoes, eggplants, bean sprouts, kelp, onions, etc., as well as a small amount of fish, shrimp, poultry, skim milk, egg white, etc.

3. The amount of salt each person consumes per day should be strictly controlled within 2-5 grams, which is about one teaspoon. The amount of salt should also be reduced by the sodium contained in cooking soy sauce. 3 ml of soy sauce is equivalent to 1 gram of salt.

In addition, salted (pickled) vegetables, fermented bean curd, bacon (eggs), pickled products, clams, dried shrimps, preserved eggs, and vegetables such as chrysanthemum, grass head, and water spinach are all high in sodium and should be eaten less or not.

4. The human body needs B vitamins and vitamin C every day, which can be met by eating more fresh vegetables and fruits. Some people advocate eating 1-2 apples a day, which is good for health. Fruits can also supplement calcium, potassium, iron, magnesium, etc.

5. For hypertensive patients who are not accompanied by kidney disease or gout, they can eat more soybeans, peanuts, black fungus or white fungus and fruits.

6. Regardless of the type of hypertension patient, fish is the first choice for protein supplementation, because epidemiological surveys have found that people who eat fish once a week have a significantly lower mortality rate from heart disease than those who do not eat fish.
