A comprehensive analysis of the symptoms of breast hyperplasia, a must-read for women!

Breast hyperplasia is one of the common diseases among women. If this disease is not discovered and treated in time, it can easily lead to the onset of acute mastitis. Therefore, female friends must pay attention. So what are the specific symptoms of breast hyperplasia in women in life?

Early symptoms of breast hyperplasia in women

(1) Breast pain: often distending pain or stabbing pain, which may affect one or both breasts, with one side being more severe. Those with severe pain cannot touch the breast, and may even affect their daily life and work. The pain is mainly in the breast lump, and may also radiate to the armpit, chest, ribs, shoulders and back of the affected side; some patients may experience nipple pain or itching. Breast pain often occurs or worsens a few days before menstruation, and is significantly relieved or disappears after menstruation; the pain may also fluctuate with mood changes. This pain related to the menstrual cycle and mood changes is the main feature of the clinical manifestations of breast hyperplasia.

(2) Breast lumps: lumps can occur in one or both breasts, singly or multiplely, and are more likely to occur in the upper outer quadrant of the breast, but can also occur in other quadrants. The shapes of lumps include flake, nodular, cord-like, granular, etc., among which flake is the most common. The boundaries of the lumps are not obvious, the texture is medium or slightly hard and tough, the lumps are mobile, there is no adhesion to the surrounding tissues, and there is often tenderness. The lumps vary in size, from the size of a millet grain to the size of more than 3 to 4 cm. Breast lumps also have the characteristic of changing with the menstrual cycle, with the lumps increasing in size and becoming harder before menstruation and shrinking and softening after menstruation.

(3) Nipple discharge: A small number of patients may experience nipple discharge, which is spontaneous. In a small number of patients, bloody discharge, milky white discharge, straw yellow or brown serous discharge may be seen when the nipple is squeezed.

(4) Menstrual disorders: Patients with this disease may experience irregular menstruation, scanty or light-colored menstruation, and may be accompanied by dysmenorrhea.

(5) Emotional changes: patients often feel depressed or irritable, which worsens when they are angry, stressed or tired.

Symptoms of acute mastitis

In the early stages, patients experience swollen and painful breasts; tender lumps appear in the affected area, and the surface skin is red and hot; systemic symptoms such as fever may also occur. If the inflammation continues to develop, the above symptoms will worsen. At this time, the pain will be pulsating and the patient may have chills, high fever, rapid pulse, etc. The axillary lymph nodes on the affected side are often enlarged and tender.

The white blood cell count was significantly increased and the nuclei were shifted to the left. The inflammatory mass often softens within a few days to form an abscess. Superficial abscesses may be palpable and fluctuant, while deep abscesses require puncture to be identified.

Breast abscess can be unilocular or expand to multilocular due to untimely drainage; or it can penetrate the skin from the outside, or the abscess can rupture into the milk duct and form nipple pus discharge; several lesions can also exist in the same breast at the same time and form multiple abscesses.

In addition to slowly breaking outward, deep abscesses can also penetrate deep into the loose tissue between the breast and pectoral muscle, forming a retromammary abscess. Severe acute mastitis can lead to large-scale necrosis of breast tissue and even sepsis.

The harm of breast hyperplasia to women

1. Cancer is difficult to avoid: The risk of malignant transformation of breast hyperplasia is 2-4 times higher than that of normal women, and the clinical symptoms and signs are sometimes confused with breast cancer. Its main clinical features are breast lumps and breast pain, which usually worsen before menstruation and ease after menstruation. Since a small portion of severe breast hyperplasia has the possibility of developing into breast cancer in the future, many people believe that this is the biggest harm of breast hyperplasia.

2. Mental impact: Patients with breast hyperplasia often have obvious mood changes, such as anger, tension, rage, anxiety, depression, etc. In addition, their life patterns will be forced to be disrupted, their body's immune function will deteriorate due to fatigue, and their breasts will be painful and upset due to emotional changes.

3. Physiological aspects: Different types of breast hyperplasia and their clinical manifestations are (1) Liver depression and qi stagnation: Breast swelling and pain before or during menstruation, disappearing with mood swings, beaded nodules of varying sizes can be felt on one or both sides, most of the lumps are mung bean-sized nodules, or thick cord-like. The texture is tough but not hard, it can be moved when pressed, it is not adhered to deep tissues, the state is unclear, the menstrual cycle is insufficient, the menstrual flow is heavy, there is chest tightness and warmth, depression, irritability and easy anger. (2) Chong and Ren meridians are not in harmony: There are lumps in the breast, the pain is aggravated before or during menstruation, and it is relieved or disappears after menstruation. The menstruation is often delayed, the menstrual pain is not severe, the menstrual flow is small, the body is tired and weak, the waist is sore and the limbs are cold. If it is not treated for a long time, a few people may develop cancer.
