Is knee pain in a 50-year-old woman rheumatoid arthritis?

Many women have experienced knee pain. When the knee hurts, exercise and walking are affected. It is necessary to face the cause of the pain and conduct reasonable treatment after finding the disease. So, is knee pain in a 50-year-old woman rheumatoid arthritis? This depends on the severity of the patient's pain and whether there is a history of arthritis. If you can't judge, you can go to the hospital for a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. At this time, you also need to observe the patient's physical symptoms and diagnose the type of disease based on the symptoms of this disease.

The cause of rheumatoid arthritis is still not very clear. It is generally believed that it is an autoimmune disease of the human body. It can also be regarded as a chronic syndrome, manifested as nonspecific inflammation of peripheral joints. At this time, the diseased joints and their surrounding tissues show progressive destruction, causing dysfunction in the damaged joints. The incidence of rheumatoid arthritis is higher in women than in men, 2 to 3 times that of men; the incidence in European and American countries is significantly higher than that in China.

The disease develops slowly, with bilateral symmetrical joint involvement. Its clinical symptoms and signs are as follows:

1. Pain: There is local pain in the joints in the early stage of the disease, especially during the active period, accompanied by tenderness and tenderness. This is the earliest and most sensitive sign for patients.

2. Stiffness: The affected joints are stiff, especially when you start moving in the morning, but it will gradually improve after a period of activity.

3. Swelling: The soft tissue around the affected joints is diffusely swollen, and the surface temperature is slightly higher than that of normal joints.

4. Late-stage cases of the deformity generally present with metacarpophalangeal joint flexion and ulnar deviation deformity; if it occurs in the toes, it will present a claw-like toe deformity appearance.

5. Subcutaneous nodules: 30% to 40% of patients may develop subcutaneous nodules, which helps in the diagnosis of this disease. Pathological examination of subcutaneous nodules can assist in diagnosis.

6. Some patients in the acute phase of fever may experience fever, mostly low-grade fever below 38°C.

7. Joint disease starts from the synovium, which becomes congested and edematous. It is most obvious in the synovium near the edge of the cartilage. The synovial surface is covered with fibrin exudate. The synovium was infiltrated with lymphocytes, plasma cells and a small number of multinuclear granulocytes. Cells infiltrating the subsynovial layer form "lymphoid nodules", some of which gather around small blood vessels. The synovial surface cells proliferate in a palisade-like pattern, and the surface villi proliferate. In the late stage, most of the infiltrating cells are plasma cells, and there is exudate in the joint cavity.

Is knee pain in a 50-year-old woman rheumatoid arthritis? Patients can understand the symptoms in the article and then observe the abnormalities of their own joints. If similar phenomena occur, rheumatoid arthritis can be considered. There are many abnormal characteristics in the body after contracting the disease, which can be analyzed after comparison. After diagnosis, reasonable treatment can be carried out. There are many treatment options and the types of treatment are also complex, but timely control can relieve pain and prevent the disease from worsening.
