How many people have paid attention to diet issues when pregnant women have diarrhea and stomach pain?

During pregnancy, pregnant women's bodies are likely to encounter many situations. You must be careful and vigilant to avoid adverse complications. It is easy to cause diarrhea due to dietary supplements during pregnancy. Generally, worsening diarrhea will lead to bacterial infection, and food poisoning cannot be ruled out. Eating too cold food and not paying attention to a reasonable diet are all causes of diarrhea. Diarrhea can cause abdominal pain, and severe cases can cause premature birth and miscarriage. You need to go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible.

What should pregnant women pay attention to during diarrhea?

Like ordinary people, pregnant women can also suffer from diarrhea; but unlike ordinary people, pregnant women are "two people"; to be more scientific, they are a fetus-mother whole, which is also the most important feature. This characteristic cannot be ignored or forgotten when diagnosing and treating diarrhea in pregnant women.

Pregnancy itself rarely causes diarrhea, nor does it make existing diarrhea worse, but diarrhea is a danger signal for pregnancy, indicating the possibility of miscarriage or premature birth, so it should not be taken lightly. According to a report from Swedish doctors, the most common cause of diarrhea in pregnant women is infection. The most common pathogens include Salmonella, Shigella dysenteriae, Campylobacter and viruses. Food poisoning or viral infections in other parts of the body can also cause diarrhea in pregnant women.

Once a pregnant woman develops diarrhea, the main treatment measure is appropriate fluid replacement to replenish the water and electrolytes lost due to diarrhea, especially potassium ions, and replenish the calories lost due to diarrhea. At the same time, the fetus should be closely observed to see if it is in good condition and whether there are any signs of premature birth or miscarriage. Unlike ordinary people, pregnant women should be particularly careful when using antibiotics. Many commonly used antibiotics and antiprotozoal drugs, in addition to adverse reactions, have potential teratogenic effects. For example, the commonly used metronidazole is teratogenic in experimental animals and is therefore contraindicated during pregnancy, especially in the first three months of pregnancy. Other antibiotics, such as sulfonamides, tetracyclines, quinolones, etc., have adverse effects on the mother and/or fetus and should also be banned.

Some milder anti-diarrhea agents, such as kaolin and pectin, can be used. These drugs can absorb water and reduce intestinal motility; activated charcoal tablets may also be worth a try. Smecta is an octahedral tromolite with a large adsorption surface and is not absorbed by the body. It not only has the above-mentioned characteristics, but can also adsorb some pathogenic bacteria, making it safe and effective. Generally speaking, erythromycin and ampicillin are safe for both mother and baby. Do not use opioids to stop diarrhea, because these drugs may cause bacterial overgrowth and repeated infections, which will aggravate diarrhea. Patients can also be given some microecological preparations, such as Lizhu Changle and Zhengchangsheng, to adjust the intestinal flora and strengthen the body and eliminate evil. Pregnant women who have diarrhea and are about to give birth should be isolated at the bedside according to the intestinal infectious disease policy to ensure the safety of the baby and other mothers.

After the above treatment, pregnant women with diarrhea can generally resume normal bowel movements after 24 to 96 hours. If treatment is ineffective, fecal bacteriological culture and drug sensitivity testing should be performed, as well as intestinal protozoa and parasite examinations. Fiberoptic sigmoidoscopy should be performed cautiously when necessary to exclude inflammatory bowel disease.
