What are the disadvantages of wearing a belly band after childbirth?

The so-called belly belt used by women after childbirth should be called a smoothing belt. This type of belly belt has good elasticity and the tightness can be adjusted freely, allowing women to gradually restore their body curves after childbirth. If you use the belly belt after childbirth and use massage cream to properly massage the abdomen, the abdominal tightening effect will be better. However, there are some possible problems for women using belly bands after childbirth, which are briefly introduced below.

Loving beauty is human nature. Many young mothers are particularly concerned about changes in their body shape and believe that tightening the abdomen after giving birth will help restore their body shape. Therefore, prepare belly bands and leggings in advance before delivery. As soon as the child is born, it wraps itself tightly from the hips to the abdomen, making it very difficult for it to bend over. When I am able to get out of bed and move around, I put on leggings and tie them tightly around my body, hoping that this will help me get back to my original shape.

Judging from the above situation, normal abdominal wrapping during the postpartum period not only does not help to restore the tension of the abdominal wall, but due to the increased abdominal pressure, the support capacity of the posterior pelvic floor support tissue and ligaments on the reproductive organs decreases, leading to uterine prolapse, severe retroversion and retroflexion of the uterus, and bulging of the anterior and posterior walls of the vagina. Due to the change in the normal position of the reproductive organs, the blood flow in the pelvis is poor and the resistance is reduced, which can easily cause various gynecological diseases such as pelvic inflammatory disease, adnexitis, and pelvic congestion syndrome, seriously affecting the health of the mother.

Due to pregnancy, pregnant women have active metabolic functions. In addition to supplying the needs of itself and the fetus, it is also necessary to accumulate about 5 kg of fat distributed in the chest, abdomen, and buttocks to provide energy for the late pregnancy, delivery and lactation, and more for breastfeeding. This fat will not disappear quickly due to abdominal wrapping during the postpartum period.

If women use belly bands excessively after childbirth, it may cause lumbar muscle strain, affect the normal blood supply to the abdomen, increase abdominal pressure, compress the pelvis and genitals, and easily lead to slowed gastrointestinal motility, resulting in decreased appetite or constipation. If women use binding belts excessively after childbirth, it is easy to cause gynecological diseases such as pelvic inflammatory disease or adnexitis.
