What are the hazards of gonococcal urethritis in women

The incidence of gonococcal urethritis in women has been on the rise in recent years. It can be seen that the number of female friends suffering from gonococcal urethritis is increasing year by year, and many female compatriots are suffering from the pain. Without proper preventive measures and timely treatment, the harm will gradually expand. Let’s take a look at the dangers of gonococcal urethritis in women today.

Urethritis refers to inflammation of the urethra due to various reasons, resulting in symptoms such as discharge, painful urination or urethral discomfort. If Neisseria gonorrhoeae can be detected, it is called gonococcal urethritis; if Neisseria gonorrhoeae cannot be found, it is called non-gonococcal urethritis. Gonococcal urethritis is characterized by high morbidity, strong infectiousness, and a short incubation period (3 to 5 days).

Hazard 1: Prostatitis: Gonorrhea ascending infection invades the prostate and causes prostatitis. Its symptoms include abnormal urination frequency, turbid urine, perineum pain, etc. If not actively treated, it will turn into chronic prostatitis, which will cause great harm to women's health.

Hazard 2: Seminal vesiculitis: Gonorrhea invades the posterior urethra and may also invade the seminal vesicle duct, causing inflammation of the seminal vesicle. Symptoms include fever, frequent urination, painful urination, and hematuria.

Hazard three: Epididymitis and orchitis: Gonorrhea invades the epididymis tissue, causing epididymis swelling, pain and fever, and reflex pain in the ipsilateral groin and lower abdomen. Gonorrhea can also invade the testicles from the epididymis, causing testicular inflammation.

Hazard 4: Gonorrheal infection in newborns: About 1/3 of newborns are infected with gonorrhea through untreated maternal soft birth canal, resulting in neonatal gonococcal conjunctivitis, pneumonia, and even gonococcal sepsis, which significantly increases the neonatal mortality rate.

What are the dangers of gonococcal urethritis in women? Do you know now? If female friends suffer from gonococcal urethritis, they must actively cooperate with the doctor's treatment and have a restrained sexual life during the treatment period, otherwise it will be transmitted to their sexual partners.
