How many days is the normal menstrual period delayed?

For some female friends, their menstruation may be delayed for a few days, or even not come for more than ten days. At this time, they start to get nervous, thinking that they have some kind of physical problem, or that they are pregnant during their menstruation, making themselves paranoid. In fact, under normal circumstances, it is normal for women to have their menstruation delayed by one or two days. There is no need to make a fuss. Only if it is delayed for a week should you consider whether you are pregnant and it is necessary to go to the hospital for a check-up.

It is not a big deal if your period is delayed by less than ten days. However, if your period is delayed by more than ten days, it is best to go to the hospital for a detailed examination. The menstrual cycle is generally 28 to 30 days. About ten days earlier or later is still within the normal range, and the length of the cycle varies from person to person. But if it exceeds this time, women with normal menstruation will definitely be worried. Ten days after the menstruation is delayed, you can test your urine with an early pregnancy test strip. If it is positive, you are very likely pregnant. If it is negative, the opposite is true. But if you are pregnant, there will be other symptoms such as nausea, breast tenderness, etc. Of course, the last resort is to go to the hospital for an ultrasound examination.

If endocrine disorders occur after taking contraceptives, menstruation may be delayed. Doctors also found, based on patient feedback, that a new generation of gastrokinetic drug, metoclopramide, also known as domperidone, may also cause this condition. Since metoclopramide does not easily cross the blood-brain barrier, it is believed that it has no inhibitory effect on central dopamine receptors. Central dopamine receptors are inhibited, resulting in a decrease in the amount of hypothalamic release factors entering the anterior pituitary. As a result, the anterior pituitary secretes less gonadotropin and corticotropin, leading to amenorrhea and delayed ovulation.

Female friends should not panic too much when encountering problems such as delayed menstruation. They should stay calm. If necessary, they can go to the hospital to see if there is a problem of irregular menstruation. In fact, menstruation and endocrine system are closely related. Nowadays, many women are strong women who are busy with work and do not have much time to care about their bodies. Little do they know that over time, their endocrine system is prone to disorders and eventually irregular menstruation.
