What are the causes of postpartum hair loss?

In daily life, many mothers experience hair loss after giving birth. Their hair becomes oily after childbirth. Many people don’t know what is going on. What causes this situation? What are the causes of postpartum hair loss? I think many people must be very concerned about this issue, so let’s take a look at the following content to find out.

1. Hair, like other tissues in the human body, needs to undergo metabolism and is replaced every 5 years. However, since hair is replaced in batches at different times, it is generally not noticeable. Each hair has a hair follicle in the scalp. Each hair follicle grows one hair. Three months after the hair falls out, a new hair will grow again. A hair follicle can grow repeatedly 20 times, so new hair falls off and grows every day. Generally speaking, it is normal to lose 50 to 100 hairs a day.

2. Estrogen. The main factor causing postpartum hair loss is the change in estrogen concentration in the body. During pregnancy, the estrogen concentration in women's bodies increases, the rate of hair replacement slows down, and the life span is extended. Some hair "overserves". After delivery, the estrogen concentration returns to normal, and this part of the "overserved" hair naturally begins to fall out.

3. Mental state. Some new mothers are stimulated by adverse external factors during or after the delivery process, such as being coldly treated when giving birth to a girl, which leads to dysfunction of the cerebral cortex and autonomic nervous system, and the nerves controlling the hair blood vessels are also dysfunctional, resulting in insufficient nutrition supply and hair loss.

4. Diet nutrition. Insufficient nutrition during pregnancy and poor eating habits during lactation, such as picky eating, can lead to deficiencies in protein, calcium, zinc, and B vitamins in the body, affecting the normal growth and metabolism of hair, causing hair to become dry, broken, and fall out. Women are very likely to suffer from qi deficiency due to malnutrition after giving birth. The deficiency of qi and blood cannot nourish the hair, so their hair falls out.

The above is some basic knowledge about postpartum hair loss. I believe that everyone will have a certain understanding after reading it. For some people, this is a normal phenomenon, so if hair loss occurs, don’t worry too much. Relax and comb your hair every day or massage it to improve your hair. If you have a serious condition, you can go to the hospital to consult a doctor.
