What is secondary amenorrhea?

What is secondary amenorrhea?

As long as you are a woman, you will have menstruation every month, and menstruation is a way for the body to detoxify and beautify. If you don’t have your period in a certain month, you will find that your skin is very bad. At this time, you must pay great attention to it and take measures to solve it. So what is secondary amenorrhea? It is mainly due to a series of reasons such as endocrine disorders that lead to amenorrhea. Next, let us understand what secondary amenorrhea is?

1. Systemic diseases and other stimuli can cause amenorrhea:

(1) Malnutrition and excessive weight loss can cause amenorrhea: During World War II, almost all women imprisoned in concentration camps suffered from amenorrhea due to malnutrition. However, once they were released, their menstruation gradually returned to normal. Some women eat too little and develop anorexia in order to lose weight, which causes amenorrhea; other women suffer from digestive tract dysfunction, which makes it difficult to absorb nutrients (such as severe gastrointestinal diseases), which also causes amenorrhea.

(2) Chronic wasting diseases: such as severe anemia, tuberculosis, etc.

(3) Diabetes: It is reported that 50% of young women with diabetes suffer from amenorrhea. The incidence of diabetes gradually increases after the age of 40. Women with "three mores and one less" (drinking more, eating more, urinating more, and losing weight) should consider diabetes when they experience amenorrhea.

(4) Other environmental factors: such as excessive fatigue and cold stimulation (such as drinking too many cold drinks or taking cold water during menstruation).

(5) Psychological factors: Fear, tension, fear of pregnancy, and eagerness to have a child (false pregnancy) may all cause amenorrhea. As mentioned above, amenorrhea occurred in women in concentration camps during World War II, and psychological factors also played a major role.

2. Amenorrhea caused by hypothalamic and pituitary diseases: Since menstruation is completed by the close "cooperation" of the central nervous system and female reproductive organs, amenorrhea may be caused by diseases of the central nervous system, brain, hypothalamus, pituitary gland or by certain factors. In particular, dysfunction or diseases of the hypothalamus and pituitary gland can cause amenorrhea, such as meningitis, encephalitis, brain damage, radiotherapy, brain tumors, etc.

What is secondary amenorrhea? This question is not difficult to answer for women, because what women know best is menstruation. Some people feel very anxious when secondary amenorrhea occurs. This is wrong, because not all problems in our lives cannot be solved. Secondary menstruation is not a big problem. As long as the patient actively accepts it, and menstruation will come again, so don't worry or be anxious.
