What are the symptoms of recurrence of endometrial polyps?

What are the symptoms of recurrence of endometrial polyps?

A large number of patients with endometrial polyps have recovered relatively well after actively undergoing surgical resection. However, due to various reasons, the disease recurred without being noticed after the operation. The root cause is that most endometrial polyps are inflammatory polyps. Even if the polyps are removed surgically, the inflammation is not controlled. Eventually, the inflammation stimulates the endometrium and causes the polyps to recur.

Endometrial polyps are a common gynecological disease, but their incidence is uncertain because many polyps are asymptomatic. The reported prevalence of endometrial polyps ranges from 7.8% to 34.9%, depending on the population studied. Risk factors for the development of endometrial polyps include age, hypertension, obesity, and tamoxifen use.

Increasing age appears to be a risk factor for the development of endometrial polyps. The prevalence of endometrial polyps appears to increase among women of reproductive age, but it is unclear whether the prevalence continues to increase or decreases after menopause.

Most women with symptomatic endometrial polyps present with abnormal uterine bleeding, which has recently been classified as polyp-related abnormal uterine bleeding in premenopausal women. Endometrial polyps may be found in 10-40% of women with abnormal uterine bleeding before menopause, and the severity of symptoms is not related to the number, diameter and location of the polyps.

Of course, after the onset of endometrial polyps, it is also easy to cause menstrual abnormalities, such as increased menstrual volume, prolonged menstrual period, or irregular vaginal bleeding.

There are some risk factors for endometrial polyps that female friends need to be aware of. The risk of developing endometrial polyps increases with age. Women who are infertile throughout their lives have an increased risk of developing polyps. After treatment and recovery, the possibility of recurrence of endometrial polyps increases if tamoxifen is used.
